Leeds United fans like French journalist’s information on QSI agreement

[ad_pod ]Leeds United fans are taking a much more positive view on the potential investment from Qatar Sports Investments after it was reported that they are looking to buy out only a small share of the club.Previously some supporters were concerned about the implications of QSI taking over at Elland Road, but now they seem to be much more open to the idea as they wouldn’t have too much control at the club. There have been many conflicting reports about what the PSG owners are planning to do at the Yorkshire club. However, Mike Thornton, Director of Leeds Fans United, has been speaking to French journalist Abdellah Boulma and has been told that the QSI and Leeds have an agreement that QSI will purchase a 10% stake in the club. Thornton himself estimates that would cost QSI a figure in the region between £7m and £10m.

According to Boulma, this should open the door for Leeds to bring in some of PSG’s young talent on loan deals. Jese Rodriguez has already been linked with a move to the Championship club, and certain sections of the fanbase are hoping that the club can utilise their link with the French giants in order to loan players.

Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying about the rumours on Twitter…

Crystal Palace fans give their opinions on Brentford duo Maupay and Watkins

[ad_pod ]

A group of Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been giving their opinions on a reported double swoop for Brentford attacking pair Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins.

While seemingly not claiming the information as their own, a report from The Sutton and Croydon Guardian appears to be the origin of the allegation that Palace are interested in signing both Bees stars.

And Eagles supporters have every reason to be excited about the rumoured transfer raid, with the duo setting the Sky Bet Championship alight last season as Thomas Frank’s men beat the drop.

Roy Hodgson currently has limited creativity in his ranks and the situation up front is bleak with plenty of deadwood that needs to be cleared out – so Maupay and Watkins would both solve problems amongst the Palace squad.

Should Crystal Palace keep hold of Max Meyer this summer? Harvey Jones discusses in the video below…

Members of the Selhurst Park faithful on the social media platform know this too and could barely contain their excitement after a fan account Tweeted about the speculation.

It’s still not quite clear how much truth there is to the claim, but it’s obvious Eagles fans would be in favour of their club snapping up the Championship pair…

Arsenal: Change in transfer strategy will benefit Gunners in the long-term

“We need to be really disciplined when we are dealing with senior players who are not towards the end of their careers.”

Those were the words of Arsenal’s managing director Vinai Venkatesham in a recent interview with the club’s official website, and it was a statement that more than surprised supporters given events in recent years.

This season alone has seen Aaron Ramsey leave the club on a free to Juventus and will also see Danny Welbeck depart when his deal expires at the end of the month, and in the past we have seen Arsenal receive either nothing or a small fee for players who should be going for big fees.

Which is why Venkatesham’s comments were so surprising, as the managing director also said that players in the final two years of their contract and not in the final years of their career will have action taken upon themselves in the form of being sold or having their deals renewed.

This is a strategy that has excited fans, as the club have been poor when it comes to recouping transfer fees for players or even getting any decent money for names who can easily be sold for more, and this shift will benefit Arsenal greatly in the long-term.

With no form of income coming from billionaire owner Stan Kroenke and the club well known for only spending what they make from sponsorship deals and ticket sales, a stricter transfer scheme will add more funds to Arsenal’s transfer budget as the years go on, which will lead to better players joining the club.

It’s taken a while, but the backroom staff at Arsenal are finally making the right moves to ensure Unai Emery has the funds to build a team that can compete in the Premier League in the near-future.

Arsenal fans, is this is a promising step in the right direction for the club? Let us know!

‘The little genius defies logic’ – Lineker hits nail on the head for Liverpool

[ad_pod ]Liverpool crashed and burned in Catalonia on Wednesday night despite putting in a decent display at the Nou Camp.To say Barcelona’s 3-0 victory flattered the hosts is a resounding understatement, but Jurgen Klopp’s face told the whole story when the third goal went in.The gulf in class between mere humans and the extraterrestrial Lionel Messi was underlined with Barcelona donning a 2-0 lead, as the Argentine stepped up to whip a deliciously placed free-kick into the top corner of Alisson’s goal.In response to the exquisite strike, Gary Lineker hit the nail on the head with his assessment.

If ever there was a time when Liverpool fans could appreciate Lineker’s sentiments, it was immediately in the aftermath of his second and potentially tie-clinching goal.

The last time Messi faced Liverpool was in 2007, when he failed to score or assist in a two-legged tie which the Reds eventually won on away goals.

‘The little genius defies logic’ was a statement which certainly didn’t apply back then but, after years of avoiding the magician on the European stage, the otherworldly lexicon field which he commands across the football media has never been more pertinent to Liverpool fans.

They saw his logic-defying genius in all its glory last night, and it may well prove to be the difference between the two sides across the two legs.

27-year-old defender could be the perfect signing for Arsenal this summer: Opinion

Arsenal have had a decent enough first season under new manager Unai Emery and remain well in contention to land a top four spot at the time of writing.

The Gunners will be hoping for two wins in their final games to give themselves the best chance of landing that top four place, and if they can indeed land a Champions League spot then it would be a fine achievement from Emery.

The summer is bound to once again be a big one for the club though, with new players needed yet again to give Arsenal the missing pieces and tools they need to continually compete.

One man who has been linked with a move to the club is Getafe defender Djene Dakonam, who could be the ideal signing for the Gunners if they can indeed convince the 27-year-old to make the move over to England.

The 27-year-old has been in fine form for the Spanish club this season, putting in some superb performances to build and enhance a reputation which was already on the rise.

Djene could be exactly what Arsenal have needed for quite some time too, with his power, pace, and no nonsense style something which the club have lacked in recent times.

Arsenal have always lacked that strength in the spine of the team ever since the days of the likes of Vieira and Adams, and they are in desperate need of someone who can dominate from the back.

Djene fits the mould of that sort of player perfectly, and he’d be a fine signing for Arsenal if they can get the deal over the line.

Get rid of him! Liverpool fans want Dejan Lovren gone amid interest from afar

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans on Twitter have been busy discussing just how badly they want to see the back of Dejan Lovren, after reports emerged that the defender is attracting interest from AC Milan, Roma and Napoli.

The Croatian signed for the Reds back in 2014 in a £20m deal from Southampton, where he quickly became a laughing stock at Anfield for some woeful performances and his haphazard decision-making.

Are the media letting Jurgen Klopp off lightly for his lack of silverware? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…

He has regained a shrewd of credibility since Jurgen Klopp arrived on Merseyside, with his last-gasp goal against Borussia Dortmund perhaps the crowning moment of his Liverpool career; he has, for the most part, been a liability, however.

Additionally, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip now ahead of him in the pecking order, the 29-year-old looks likely to be stuck on the bench for the foreseeable future; perhaps now is the best time to cash in on him.

As a result of his error-ridden Reds career, a number of Liverpool fans on Twitter are overjoyed at the news of his potential exit…

Opinion: Sheffield United should look to sign this strike ace if they win promotion

Sheffield United edged ever nearer a return to the Premier League with a 1-0 win at Leeds United this weekend.

The Blades took the spoils thanks to a goal from Chris Basham at Elland Road, and manager Chris Wilder will now be confident of seeing his team land a place in the top two come the end of what has been a superb campaign at Bramall Lane.

However, if they are promoted, they’ll need a healthy injection of new players into the squad, and one man we here in the Tavern think would be a shrewd signing is Brentford goal ace, Neal Maupay.

The Bees striker has been in fine form for the Griffin Park club this season, smashing in the goals to further enhance his reputation as one of the best goalscorers outside of the top flight.

And while United have the likes of Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick on the books, they can’t be expected to shoulder all the burden if the Blades do end up in the top flight, meaning Maupay would be a superb addition to the ranks at Bramall Lane.

The Frenchman’s movement, ability to finish, as well as his age and potential mark him out as someone who can improve further and do well in the Premier League.

The Blades have had previous dealings with the Bees with the likes of John Egan and Jack O’Connell, and they’d be confident of being able to strike a deal for Maupay with Premier League riches at their disposal.

Leander Dendocker display vindicates Nuno Santo’s decision to let him adapt

[ad_pod ]

There would have been plenty of excitement when Wolverhampton Wanderers signed the highly-rated Leander Dendoncker on a season-long loan deal from Anderlecht during the summer transfer window, and rightly so.

The 23-year-old had proven himself as a key player for Anderlecht and appeared multiple times in the Champions League for them, shone alongside Youri Tielemans in midfield and shown his versatility by playing as a centre-back too, as well as being named in Belgium’s 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup.

However, it was quickly apparent that Nuno Santo and his coaching team weren’t ready to throw him straight into the thick of Premier League action with the newly-promoted club, with The Express & Star reporting at the end of August that he would need and be given time to adapt to the quicker-paced English game.

That was quite confusing at the time given the wealth of experience he had for his age – he had made 171 appearances for Anderlecht – and while he appeared in the EFL Cup for the west Midlands outfit he didn’t make his top-flight debut until the beginning of December against Chelsea.

Having played just a further 68 minutes between then and mid-January, he has since made nine successive starts and only missed 34 minutes of action since Santo switched to a 3-5-2 system.

Ironically it was against the side he made his Premier League debut again where he really came of age – making eight tackles, five interceptions and four clearances – as Wolves came within minutes of a famous win at Stamford Bridge.

Wolves Fan TV are in no doubt that their side should have come away from Stamford Bridge with all 3 points on Sunday. Check out their views in the video below…

The 6 ft 2 midfielder shone as he helped out the likes of Matt Doherty and Romain Saiss from a defensive point of view on day where he saw little of the ball, helping to thwart fellow countryman Eden Hazard – until his late equaliser that is.

The Belgium international looks to be ready-made for the English top flight and that may well be because he was afforded time to get ready for it both physically and mentally – that once confusing Santo decision suddenly looks like a sensible one that has seriously paid off.
