In recent comments made on Twitter, Phil Hay dropped an update on the future of Leeds United left-back, Ezgjan Alioski.

Since joining Leeds from FC Lugano in what was a £2.25 million deal back in the summer of 2017, Alioski has gone on to feature 162 times for the club, scoring 22 goals and providing 16 assists along the way.

However, so far this season, the £24,000-per-week 29-year-old has slightly underwhelmed over his 27 Premier League appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.55 – ranking him as the club’s 13th-best performer in the top flight.

Seemingly as a result of these below-par displays, it has been reported that Leeds will not be offering the defender a new deal at Elland Road, with Football Insider claiming that the North Macedonian has agreed pre-contract terms with Turkish side Galatasaray ahead of a move this summer.

In a recent post on Twitter, Hay confirmed that Alioski has “nothing agreed with Leeds” regarding a new contract, as well as suggesting that the “talk is very strong” in relation to the left-back’s reported move to Turkey.

While Alioski has impressed during his time at Leeds, earning seasonal WhoScored match ratings of 6.86 in 2017/18, 6.97 in 2018/19 and 6.70 in 2019/20, it would appear, considering the significant drop in his average match rating so far this season, that Premier League football may be a level slightly beyond the capabilities of the left-back.

As such, perhaps it will be best for all involved if Alioski does indeed move on to greener pastures this summer, with a move to Galatasaray appearing the most likely destination for the defender.

No último domingo, o Vasco atuou diante de 18 mil torcedores no estádio Kleber Andrade, no Espírito Santo. O sucesso da viagem, em termos operacionais e financeiros, criaram na diretoria a ideia de explorar mais os jogos fora do Rio de Janeiro, em locais com grande número de torcedores do clube. No entanto, isso só deve acontecer quando o mando de campo for de alguma equipe que se interesse em atuar nesses locais.

– Quando o mando de campo for nosso, a tendência é que os jogos sejam sempre em São Januário. Dificilmente saíremos do Rio. Agora, se algum clube de fora tiver o interesse e a proposta for interessante, nós estamos dispostos. Sabemos que o Bahia, por exemplo, não precisa sair de lá. Liverpool are continuing to be linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus, and he could be the man to help unleash Thiago in the Reds midfield if he were to join.

According to Sport BILD journalist Christian Falk (via Express), the 23-year-old is willing to join the Reds in the summer, and they are now the number one contenders to sign the German, due to Dortmund-bound manager Marco Rose not wanting to sign any of his current players from Monchengladbach when he makes the switch, whilst Bayern Munich are low on funds after their signing of Dayot Upamecano.

Neuhaus has established himself as a top prospect in Europe with his performances in recent seasons, contributing four goals and two assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances last season, resulting in an excellent 6.96 average rating.

The midfielder looks well on track to surpass these statistics this season, having already managed four goals and four assists in 22 appearances in the German top-flight.

Neuhaus would likely arrive as a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who looks set to depart Anfield in the summer when his contract expires, and he arguably could be better-suited to this Liverpool midfield than the Dutch international, as his style of play would suit Thiago.

The German is taller than Wijnaldum and would provide more of a physical presence in midfield, which may take some of the pressure off Thiago to defend and try and win the ball back, which doesn’t really suit his skill set.

The Reds need an all-round midfielder with an excellent work rate such as Neuhaus, who averages 13.44 pressures per 90 minutes, as this would allow Thiago to conserve his energy and make himself available for when Liverpool win the ball back with their press, rather than doing all of the chasing himself.

Neuhaus has earned a lot of plaudits with his performances for Monchengladbach, with teammate Marcus Thuram labelling him an “outstanding” player last year, and with Die Fohlen languishing in mid-table in the Bundesliga, he deserves a move to a side that can challenge for trophies next season.

Certainly, his all-round style of play in midfield would definitely compliment Thiago and allow him to get back to his best, as so far, he has failed to reproduce the level of performances he showed in his time with Bayern Munich.

Michael Edwards will be aware of Neuhaus’ quality and availability, sanctioning a move for the Monchengladbach ace could prove to be a masterstroke.

Many Everton fans have been left fuming as the Merseyside club’s official Twitter page announced that they will play Manchester City at home in the FA Cup.

Given that no supporters will be allowed to attend the game, playing at Goodison Park does not hold too much of an advantage for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, as they could be in for a very difficult match.

Pep Guardiola’s men are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table and have recently broken a top-flight record by becoming the first team to win 15 games in a row across all competitions in English football history (Sky Sports).

In order to increase their chances of progressing to the semi-finals, there would have been other sides the Toffees would have liked to have been drawn against. However, they will now have to beat a red-hot City team in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Depois da vitória do Cruzeiro por 1 a 0 diante do Tupi, nesta tarde de domingo, o zagueiro Dedé foi realista ao conceder uma entrevista na saída do gramado. O defensor alertou para a necessidade de melhora no time celeste. Mesmo com os três pontos, os comandados de Deivid não apresentaram um futebol convincente, principalmente no primeiro tempo, e só acordaram na etapa final após as boas alterações do treinador.

– Nosso time tentou pressionar, foi pra cima, mas temos trabalho redobrado quando encontramos um adversário compacto defensivamente. Tínhamos a obrigação de ganhar, foi um jogo corrido, mas conseguimos fazer uma boa partida. Ainda precisamos melhorar, isso é nítido, mas vamos trabalhar para corrigir – comentou o zagueiro.

Depois de um primeiro tempo com pouquíssimas chances criadas e apenas uma finalização ao gol, o Cruzeiro acordou nos 45 minutos finais. A entrada de Élber e Arrascaeta deu um novo gás ao time, que passou a pressionar ainda mais o time de Juiz de Fora e martelou até balançar as redes e garantir a vitória.

– Melhoramos no segundo tempo. Nosso time tentou pressionar a defesa do Tupi para pegar a bola perto do gol. No fim das contas, deu certo – completou o zagueiro.

Ufa! Talvez este tenha sido o sentimento da torcida santista, já com saudade de ver seu time jogar, quando a bola começou a rolar na Vila Belmiro. Mas durante o jogo, a impaciência tomou conta dos 9.341 presentes e até mesmo dos jogadores e o Peixe apenas empatou com o São Bernardo na estreia do Paulistão por 1 a 1.

Logo nos minutos iniciais, mais precisamente aos oito, a zaga santista deu bobeira dentro da área após cobrança de escanteio e a bola sobrou limpa para o zagueiro do Bernô Luciano Castán balançar as redes do Urbano Caldeira pela primeira vez no ano. Ainda tentando se encontrar em campo, o Alvinegro tentava trocar passes, mas esbarrava na marcação adversária e pouco conseguia criar.

Lucas Lima, único responsável pela criação das jogadas ofensivas, não conseguiu desmontar o sistema defensivo com passes rápidos e abusou dos lançamentos longos. O trio de ataque formado por Ricardo Oliveira, Paulinho e Gabigol, ainda buscando a melhor forma física após a pré-temporada, pareciam não ter pernas para apertar a marcação no campo de ataque e pouco criaram.

O único lance de perigo do Peixe na primeira etapa veio em bola aérea. Zeca recebeu pela esquerda e fez cruzamento na medida para Gustavo Henrique, que testou firme para linda defesa do goleiro Daniel, aos 19 minutos. Depois disso, os comandados de Dorival Júnior rondaram a área do rival, mas sem conseguir uma infiltração com a bola nos pés.

Sentindo o problema de criação de seus jogadores, Dorival voltou para o segundo tempo com o meia Serginho no lugar do volante Thiago Maia. O jovem até começou buscando o jogo e se movimentando, mas com o tempo, assim como toda a equipe, se perdeu em campo.

O Peixe voltou mais ligado dos vestiários, mas sem conseguir em momento algum assustar o goleiro Daniel. Em cobrança de falta na entrada da área, Lucas Lima mandou por cima do gol, sem perigo. Desesperado para buscar empate, o Alvinegro abusou da falta de atenção e passou a perder vários lances na defesa. Um deles, aliás, quase resultou no segundo gol do São Bernardo. Marino recebeu passe no contra-ataque, invadiu a área e parou em grande defesa do goleiro Vanderlei. Na sequência, Diego Ivo recebeu cruzamento e cabeceou para outro milagre do arqueiro santista.

Com Joel no lugar de Paulinho e Neto Berola na vaga de Renato, o Santos ganhou em velocidade. No único lance de inspiração ofensiva, o time da casa conseguiu o empate. Ufa! Lucas Lima recebeu pela esquerda e cruzou para Gabigol, livre, cabecear para o gol e deixar tudo igual no marcador.

Apesar da ansiedade e vontade para buscar a virada, a verdade é que faltou futebol ao Peixe na tarde deste domingo. A temporada já começou e é preciso jogar mais para conquistar o bicampeonato. Ufa! Pelo menos o empate…

Grant Leadbitter smashed Phil Parkinson’s criteria for what the veteran midfielder can offer Sunderland this season with an instrumental display at home to Ipswich Town.

The 34-year-old opened the League One clash on Tuesday night in the core of Parkinson’s engine room beside Lynden Gooch and Josh Scowen, and offered the Black Cats a superb enforcer as he held down duties on the half-way line to protect Tom Flanagan, Bailey Wright and Connor McLaughlin.

Leadbitter kept his cool in the closing stages to convert from the spot after Mark McGuinness was penalised for a handball, too, striking what proved to be the match-winning goal for his second of the season to move Sunderland to within a point of the automatic promotion places.

Sunderland have now won back-to-back League One fixtures following their first defeat of the season at home to Portsmouth and a draw with Rochdale, keeping the Stadium of Light natives inside the Play-Off positions and with the division’s joint-best defensive record after allowing just seven goals in 10 games.

Leadbitter re-joined the Sunderland first-team for pre-season training this summer having left the group for personal reasons earlier in the year, and delighted Parkinson with what he brought to the field when the 34-year-old made his first competitive appearance of the campaign against Aston Villa’s U21s in the EFL Trophy in September.

“He’s a big plus for us from pre-season because he’s come back in great shape, both mentally and physically. He’s a good player, we know that, he’s played to a very high standard in his career,” Parkinson said, via quotes by the Sunderland Echo.

“He’s got a desire to be in and around the team. He wants to play and that’s great to see. I do feel there’s a really important role for Grant to play as club captain as the young players will look up to him.”

Parkinson opted to leave Leadbitter among the substitutes in Sunderland’s following League One meeting with Bristol Rovers, but has since started the £1.44m-rated veteran in eight of the Black Cats’ subsequent nine third-tier fixtures.

Leadbitter’s importance on the field was on full display at home to Ipswich on Tuesday night, as the Chester-Le-Street-born midfielder dictated the flow of proceedings with Sunderland’s most passes completed (46) and most interceptions (three), per SofaScore.

Only centre-half McLaughlin attempted a greater number of passes (53) than Leadbitter (52), who further won a ground duel and aerial contest, found teammates with three of five long balls, made one clearance and took his side’s third-most touches (58).

He may have been dribbled past twice and committed two fouls but, along with slotting home the decisive penalty, Leadbitter also drew the foul that saw Peter Wright show Andre Dozzell a straight red card, while making a goal-saving interception on the stroke of half-time and only losing possession six times.

Leadbitter’s performance smashed Parkinson’s criteria for setting an example for young players to follow, and solidifying the veteran enforcer’s place in the starting line-up ahead of facing Mansfield Town in the FA Cup this Saturday.

Leeds United can have very few complaints about how their transfer window went.

They broke their transfer record, signed a number of international players, and brought in stars from Europe’s top leagues, but one thing that could be a slight issue is their failure to bring in a central midfielder.

It wasn’t for the lack of trying, as United were known to be in for both Rodrigo De Paul and Michael Cuisance, but after the deadline, it emerged that one midfielder United were reportedly in for was open to making a move.

Indeed, Julian Draxler was one player Leeds were linked with throughout the summer, and the German has now admitted that he would have happily left PSG in the window.

We don’t know what lengths Leeds went to in their attempts to sign Draxler, but they should be ruing the fact that they didn’t manage to get that one over the line.

The German international is undoubtedly a better option than someone like Cuisance, he blows him out of the water statistically averaging more key passes, tackles and interceptions per game, while also being spoken about incredibly highly.

Draxler was a young prodigy once upon a time, being described as an “exceptional talent” at a young age, and you don’t get a move to PSG in this day and age if you aren’t a fantastic footballer.

The German could have come in and immediately taken Leeds to that next level, he’s got experience at the very highest level, he’s a World Cup winner, and despite seemingly being around forever, he’s only 27, meaning that the best years of his career may still be ahead of him.

Unfortunately, Leeds didn’t get this deal done, and it’s one that they should be regretting after hearing his recent quotes. Perhaps they could reignite their interest in January.

O diretor lamentou a saída dos atletas e agradeceu aos serviços prestados ao clube durante suas passagens.

-O Charles é muito querido no clube, tem muitos serviços prestados ao clube. O Damião é baita profissional, fez 18 gols pelo clube, é uma pessoa 100%. Ele tem imbróglio entre fundo de investimento e o Santos. O Júlio Baptista também teve muitos serviços prestados ao clube. Conversei com ele, e ele entendeu. O Ceará foi uma decisão muito difícil, ele tem caráter excepcional. Infelizmente, temos três laterais com contrato. Decidimos não renovar com ele para manter os mais novos – declarou.
