Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Mirror (November 6, page 7 of pull-out) reported that Chris Coleman is on the Saints’ radar as a potential candidate to replace Ralph Hasenhuttl.
The former Wales and Sunderland manager has been out of a job since he was sacked by Chinese side Hebei China Fortune back in May, after just 11 months at the helm – the club’s supporters made banners calling for the 49-year-old to leave, after Hebei China Fortune had won just once in nine games before Coleman’s exit.
The pressure has been mounting on Southampton boss Hasenhuttl following the 9-0 defeat to Leicester at St Mary’s, and the south coast side are currently languishing in 18th place in the Premier League with just two wins in 11 games.
However, it doesn’t seem as if Coleman would be a popular appointment given the Southampton fans’ reactions to the news.
One supporter said that they wouldn’t set foot inside St Mary’s if Coleman replaced Hasenhuttl, whereas another said that they would “give up their season ticket” if the former Crystal Palace defender arrived on the south coast.
Let’s take a look at some more of the Twitter reaction…
Things just appear to be going from bad to worse for Manchester United at the moment. The club made just three permanent signings in the summer transfer window, bringing in Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire for a combined fee totalling well over £100m.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side then failed to replace both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, and they have paid for it dearly already this season. The Red Devils have managed to score just nine times in their opening eight Premier League games, and have seen centre-forward Marcus Rashford find the back of the net on only three occasions.
It could have been so much different however. According to The Athletic, Portuguese sensation Joao Felix’s availability was discussed several times over the course of the summer window, after the 19-year-old burst onto the scene with 20 goals for Benfica last year. However, United reportedly had concerns over his ability to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League, and thus decided against a move.
After hearing the news they turned down the chance to make a swoop for the now Atletico Madrid star, United fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the matter.
Many supporters of the Manchester side revealed they couldn’t believe the club had arrived at such a conclusion over Felix’s talents, and insisted it is simply more evidence of their “clueless decision makers”.

In today’s Everton roundup, we take a look at what news has been doing the rounds for the Toffees. There is a growing concern in the injury to Andre Gomes, Darren Bent believes Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal scoring record is a ‘big problem’, and the club are reading to join Arsenal in the race for Donyell Malen.
Concern over Gomes

Report: As reported by the Liverpool Echo, there is a worry at the club over the injury to Gomes. The 26-year-old has not played since picking up a rib injury in the victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. The ex-Barcelona man will miss the game against Manchester City on the weekend, with fears looming he may not be fit until after the international break.
Verdict: Unlike many other Premier League sides, Everton are quite alright in the injury department. However, the two in the physio room are both central midfielders; Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Gomes. This is a worry conceding it’s the visit of the champions next, but also because of the poor form from others in this position.
Tom Davies has played just 11 minutes of league action thus far, Morgan Schneiderlin received a 4/10 against Sheffield United, and Gylfi Sigurdsson has yet to threaten in front of goal after scoring 13 Premier League goals last year.
Gomes has had a topsy-turvy Everton career at times, but in general, the Portugal international has been a great signing for just £22m, and the Toffees will be hoping he is back sooner rather than later.
Bent rips into Calvert-Lewin

Report: Speaking to Football Insider, former England international Bent was extremely critical of Everton forward Calvert-Lewin. He said: “I don’t quite understand, he had a tough (Under-21) European Championships, didn’t quite go to plan. It’s such night and day between him and Tammy Abraham at the moment because he was ahead of Abraham in the Euros.
“I think he’s (Abraham) scored more goals this season that Calvert-Lewin’s scored in any Premier League season. He might even score more goals now than Calvert-Lewin’s scored in total.
“Everton are in all sorts of disarray, they’re all over the place. (12 goals in 83 Premier League appearances) That there is a big problem, that is a massive stat. I like Calvert-Lewin, I think he’s a good player, works really hard, if you’re on his team, he’s one of those players you want but if you want someone to score you consistent Premier League goals, he’s not showing that.”
Verdict: Indeed, Abraham has scored more this season than Calvert-Lewin has in any other. The Everton forward bagged just six Premier League goals in 35 appearances last year, whilst the Chelsea forward netted seven in his first five games this season.
It is a worrying statistic for the former Sheffield United man, as he is now 22 and yet to establish himself at his own club.
As for the Toffees, they have put faith in their wide men for goals, with Bernard, Richarlison and Alex Iwobi all scoring for Marco Silva this season. These goals have been incredibly important, not just because of Calvert-Lewin’s poor form, but because Cenk Tosun has still yet to impress in Everton colours. The Turkey international has played just 35 minutes thus far after scoring only three times in 25 Premier League appearances last year.
Everton join Malen race
Report: As reported by the Daily Mail, Everton have joined the race for PSV Eindhoven star, Donyell Malen. It is believed the 20-year-old will cost a fee in the region of £50m, despite Arsenal initially selling him to the Dutch giants for just £500,000.
Verdict: The Toffees are lacking goals right now having scored only five times in the six games so far – the joint second lowest – and Malen could certainly be the answer to these concerns.
The forward has netted seven times in seven games in the Eredivisie and leads the way as the top scorer in the division, averaging a goal every 85 minutes. As alluded to, Calvert-Lewin and Tosun are yet to score this season, with the goals coming from the wide men, with Silva calling out for the man down the middle to pitch in on the goals.
Yes, Moise Kean could be the answer, but the Italian has not yet had a chance to prove his worth just yet. Furthermore, Malen has also scored in the Europa League for PSV and even bagged on his first call up to the Dutch national team in the European Championship qualifiers.
There is little doubting this man’s goal scoring ability, and Everton should seriously consider bringing him to Merseyside.
However, £50m is an almighty amount for a man who has only just broken onto the scene within the last 12 months.
There are some players you just couldn’t envisage playing for certain clubs.
For example, Gary Neville would never play for Liverpool and Steven Gerrard would never play for Manchester United, you get the idea.

For Aston Villa supporters an example of this would be imagining Gabriel Agbonlahor in a Birmingham City kit.
However, not many will have known that the Blues attempted to poach the striker from their closest rivals when he was just 16.
Indeed, the former England striker posted on his Instagram story to inform his followers that Birmingham City once wanted to sign him.
It’s clear to see that by Agbonlahor’s choice of emoji he was dead against the transfer, as he hints that the thought of a move to St Andrew’s makes him sick – yet another reason for the Villa Park faithful to adore him.
Instead, his career took a slightly different path as he led the line for the Villans for over a decade, scoring five goals in seven appearances against the team that wanted to sign him as a teenager.
Another day, another Juventus victory over in Serie A.
The Old Lady beat Brescia 2-1 in a hard-fought encounter on Tuesday, as Miralem Pjanic and Jhon Chancellor’s own goal turned the tides in the visitors’ favour.

With those three points, Juventus are continuing their good run – they have yet to lose domestically this season – and are now just behind Inter in the league table, to the delight of fans.
And despite not being on the scoresheet, Paulo Dybala was one of the stars who was showered with praise after the game.
The 25-year-old forward provided an assist in the game and many Juve fans were clearly impressed with his overall performance.
Some even called for him to start ahead of former Chelsea forward Gonzalo Higuain, with Juve set to play SPAL before a Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

Wolves have one foot already in the next round of the Europa League unless Armenian outfit Pyunik pull off one of the shocks of the century at Molineux tonight.
Nuno Santo’s side carry a four-goal advantage into what is their fourth Europa League fixture of the season having only played once so far in the Premier League – a 0-0 stalemate at Leicester City on Sunday.
Wolves could face Italian outfit Torino in a final playoff tie to determine who reaches the group stage and the Portuguese boss has remained coy on his possible team selection ahead of the second leg, saying:
“We’ll try to find the best 11 that we can for the game. For sure, that will be our main objective, compete and perform well in the game.”
With so many matches on the horizon, Santo may rotate his squad slightly whilst ensuring there’s no complacency creeping in with the side four goals to the good.
Here’s how we predict they will line up tonight:
A number of the team’s influential players should keep their squad place – the likes of captain Conor Coady, Ruben Neves and Rui Patricio will ensure that no one’s getting ahead of themselves.
Though, the West Midlands club will face five games inside two weeks starting against Manchester United on Monday night, so if there’s any fixture they should rotate players for in order to keep them fresh then it is surely this one.
Real Madrid’s promising centre-back Jesus Vallejo can’t have come to England on loan to warm the bench so he will be hoping to make his debut against Pyunik – he has a Champions League trophy to his name so European nights like this shouldn’t faze him.

There could be a surprise inclusion for youngster Max Kilman. The 22-year-old has played just one minute of competitive football at Molineux, but this summer Santo has been training him in Coady’s role so he could be ready for a start.
Adama Traore doesn’t need his passport today so there’s no excuses for him not to start on the right whilst Ruben Vinagre could continue on the other side at left wing-back.
In midfield, Roman Saiss could play there again just like he did in the first leg of the tie with Morgan Gibbs-White being gifted the chance to sit behind the two strikers. Neves is yet to play a full game so he should be fresher than most for this home fixture.
Santo has called on his squad to be more clinical following their 0-0 draw in the Premier League so Raul Jimenez may keep his spot, whilst Patrick Cutrone is in line for his full debut after a pair of substitute appearances.
Manchester City are to chase highly-rated West Brom youngster Morgan Rogers, according to reports.
As per the Daily Mail, current Premier League champions City are close to signing the West Bromwich Albion prodigy with talk reportedly at an advanced stage for the 16-year-old attacking midfielder.
Talks are currently ongoing between the two clubs and it is said that a sizeable compensation package has been agreed due to the huge potential in the 16-year-old attacking midfielder amid interest from other Premier League sides.
Rogers, 16, made his first-team debut as a substitute against Brighton in the FA Cup in February and has drawn comparisons to England and Spurs midfielder Dele Alli due to his physical stature. And that can only be a good thing.
The Daily Mail go on to suggest that last year the youngster attracted the attention of scouts when he scored a hat-trick as England under-17s dominated Belgium 6-2 to lift the Syrenka Cup in Poland. Rogers played three games in four games and scored in each demonstrating both his physical and mental resilience in the process.
Paul Tait, the man who discovered the Baggies diamond, told Birmingham Live: “I have had a lot of kids who have come through the training, but the first time I saw him I looked at him and I thought ‘Jesus, this kid is something else.
“I couldn’t believe the ability he had for someone so young, I was absolutely amazed at the talent he was showing.
“In the end I stopped him training with his own age group and at the age of six I moved him into the nine and ten-year-old age group.
With last season’s title rivals Liverpool thought to be close to signing another English prodigy in the shape of Harvey Elliot, perhaps this points to City wanting to ensure they don’t miss out on the latest generation of homegrown starlets.
Manchester City fans, how exciting is this signing? Are you impressed that the club are building for the future so well? Let us know in the comments below…
[ad_pod ]Some Leeds United fans on Twitter are furious after Adam Pope said on BBC Radio Leeds that he thinks Kalvin Phillips is likely to go to Aston Villa. The journalist was asked on West Yorkshire Sport Daily (July 2, 17:00) if he thought the midfielder would leave the club this summer, to which he responded: “I do think that that is the way it’s going at this stage which would be a massive blow, I think it will get to the stage where Leeds can hold back (on selling him).â€Pope went on to say that he believes Phillips’ valuation is well below the £30m which was reported earlier in the week: “From what I’m hearing you’re looking at anything between £15-20m.â€This sparked outrage amongst the Leeds fanbase, and supporters weren’t shy about sharing their feelings on social media. One branded it as a ‘disgrace’ while another called it a ‘diabolical sale’.Phillips was one of the Whites’ best players last season as he earnt himself a spot in the Championship Team of the Year.It remains to be seen whether or not the 23-year-old will be sold in this transfer window, but if a deal does go through the fanbase will be absolutely fuming.Watch Leeds United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below
