All Rangers fans want to hear from the club is a Ryan Kent announcement

[ad_pod ]

Rangers fans are desperate for the club to announce the signing of Ryan Kent after reports suggesting they were closing in on his capture.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday that the Gers were close to securing an agreement to bring the 22-year-old winger back to Ibrox on a loan basis, with the Ibrox side confident a deal would be done.

Watch the video below to find out which derbies the Pl>ymaker squad have picked as the most entertaining, fierce and passionate in the world…

Kent was a stand-out in Steven Gerrard’s team last season on the left wing, thrilling fans with his dribbling ability and desire to run right at opposition defenders in the Scottish Premiership.

The chances of a move back to Glasgow seemed slim directly after the end of the season but it appears the stars might be aligning.

It all means fans are so expectant that not a club update on Twitter goes by without the replies being flooded by supporters begging for an announcement that Kent has returned.

Even interesting news such as the appointment of Steve Doyle as the club’s new Lead Technical Scout was bombarded with messages in support of the winger.

The hijack will continue until the news they all want to hear is delivered, as these fans demonstrated this week…

Potential Consequences: Mesut Ozil staying at Arsenal

[ad_pod ]

As reported by Goal, Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has revealed that he intends to stay put at the Emirates this summer despite enduring a difficult campaign under boss Unai Emery.

At times, the German has been left on the bench, or even excluded from the matchday squad entirely for ‘tactical reasons’, which is strange seeing as he is one of the Gunners’ better players.

To make that situation worse, the 30-year-old is the club’s current highest earner on £350,000-a-week; the largest salary in Arsenal’s history.

One point separated City and Liverpool but twenty-five separated them from the rest! Fans discuss who could reduce the deficit next season in the video below?

Ozil started just 20 of Arsenal’s 38 Premier League games, and managed to muster up a measly five goals and two assists – Tottenham’s second choice right-back Kyle Walker-Peters set up more goals in just one game.

So, what are the potential consequences of Ozil staying in north London? Football FanCast takes a look…

Resources wasted

Arsenal are already struggling to muster up funds for this summer’s window, and will have a measly £40m to spend if they don’t win the Europa League final.

Ozil will cost the club a whopping £13,650,000 if they keep him on for the entirety of the 2019/20 campaign, money that could be added to this summer’s budget and be used to lure top-class players to the club on decent salaries; that would be better than giving it to Ozil, a man not even guaranteed a first-team place, right?

Emery loses power battle

Much has been made of Emery and Ozil’s relationship this season.

The Sun have reported that the Spaniard wants Ozil gone, although the German is very happy in London on such a comfortable salary.

Ozil was also seen throwing his coat towards Emery from the bench in Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Everton; if the former PSG man keeps Ozil on, then he will be undermining himself and not asserting his authority.

His value could drop even more

Arsenal paid £42.4m for the former Real Madrid man when they signed him back in 2013, but they wouldn’t get anything near that for him right now.

His value has plummeted due to, as aforesaid, his lack of game time and poor stats from this term.

If Arsenal keep him on and Emery continues to leave him out, and his form suffers as a consequence, then Arsenal will struggle to sell their No.10 for more than the already reduced fee they could get for him this summer.

West Ham eyeing move for playmaker Victor Camarasa

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United are interested in signing Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa this summer, per Sport Witness.

What’s the word?

The Hammers are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing the Spaniard, who spent the season on loan at Cardiff City.

Both Wolves and Leicester City are also mentioned as potential suitors.

West Ham are said to have registered their interest in signing the 24-year-old, who scored five goals and laid on four assists in a difficult season for Neil Warnock’s men.

Camarasa is said to be keeping his options open, however, with interest likely from Spain, Italy and Germany this summer.

Exactly what Arnautovic needs?

Marko Arnautovic needs a player like Camarasa at West Ham.

Per WhoScored, the midfielder averaged 1.6 chances created per game at Cardiff and also laid on four assists.

That latter number is perhaps so low because of the dearth of genuine quality at the Welsh club; Camarasa was actually the club’s joint-top scorer alongside Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

A move to the Irons, though, where Arnautovic can finish the chances that the Spaniard puts on a plate for him, should see his number of assists rise exponentially.

It is a win-win for the player, and for the Austrian; both David Gold and David Sullivan need to make this happen.

Performance in Numbers: Raul Jimenez struggles in Wolves’ win over Arsenal

[ad_pod ]

To pardon the pun, Nuno Santo’s team were all over Arsenal like a pack of wolves on Wednesday evening. They were exceptional, putting a shambolic and embarrassing Gunners team to the sword as they won 3-1 at Molineux.

Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves were both vital to the win and the latter returned to form in some fashion. The team as a whole were also back in form, ending a run of three matches without a victory.

But of course they’d turn up against a big side. Wolves have done it so often since being promoted and they more than capitalised on Arsenal’s mental block away from home to pick up their 16th point against one of the top six in 2018/19.

But in Wolves’ ruthless display, one man and their most potent player this season nearly went missing. Raul Jimenez was barely involved in the build-up play on the night, and his displays since becoming the club’s record signing at the start of the month have dropped off a little.

Indeed the rest of the team have been poor since the FA Cup semi-final but Jimenez’s performances over the last three games have seen him go goalless, something that might develop into a concern considering the £30m they’ve now spent on him.

The Midlands club scored three on Wednesday but it could have been a lot more, particularly if Jimenez had been in form.

He spurned a fantastic chance with the score at 0-0, firing over from close range after Willy Boly’s flick on.

It summed up his day, failing to have a single effort on target whilst even against an Arsenal defence that has been bullied repeatedly, he didn’t win any aerial duels.

Raul Jimenez is turning it on for Wolves and Mexico right now! He definitely deserves the song in the video below…

His lack of dribbles and the fact he was also dispossessed led to a further disappointing evening for the Mexican who never really found himself in the thick of the action.

The 27-year-old has been magnificent this season and there is no denying his quality. After all, he’s found the net on 17 occasions, but this was a rare off day and one where Jota outshone him.

Sheffield United: Wilder’s side would suit play-off scenario if they miss out on top-two finish

The lottery of the play-offs brings both risk and reward for the teams who enter it each year throughout the footballing pyramid in England.

A side can finish twenty points ahead of the other three teams but if they do not perform over a two-legged clash, all their hard-work can be undone in a flash. However, whereas winning a league title to secure promotion brings with it its own joys, fans would argue that there is no better feeling than seeing your side triumph at Wembley Stadium.

In Sheffield United’s case this season, they may have settle for the play-offs despite being just two points behind Leeds United in the Championship standings. The Blades’ defeat to Bristol City saw them drop out of the top two as the Whites secured a stunning comeback at Elland Road, beating Millwall 3-2 to leapfrog their Yorkshire rivals.

Although there is still seven games to go for Chris Wilder’s side to usurp Leeds and claim a top-two finish in May, he will know that any further slip-ups could be terminal for the Blades. With tough fixtures against Preston North End and Nottingham Forest to come in the next few weeks, United will have to be at the top of their game to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.

However, if they do fall short at the end of the season, it could be argued that they will enter the play-offs as one of the favourites to win the competition with West Bromwich Albion likely to be their biggest challengers. The Blades are currently scheduled to face Derby County in the semi-finals and will take confidence from the fact that they beat the Rams 3-1 in their most recent match-up.

Regardless of who they face in May, Wilder will be confident of beating anyone if his side can produce the form which they have been illustrating throughout the 2018/19 campaign. A promotion via the play-offs would not only give the club’s supporters a day to remember at Wembley Stadium but it would also hugely beneficial financially. Fulham’s 1-0 victory over Aston Villain the final of the competition last season saw them receive £94.7m this season which will eventually rise to a total of £174.8m over the next two campaigns (via the Independent).

On an individual basis, Wilder’s record when reaching the play-offs is a perfect one as he won his one and only final as a manager whilst in charge of Oxford United as the Yellows defeated York City to achieve promotion to League Two in 2010. This experience of triumphing could therefore prove to be vital for the Blades if they are to miss out on a top-two finish in the Championship this year.

What do you think United fans? Would you take guaranteed success in the play-offs over automatic promotion? Or should your club prioritise a top-two finish instead? Let us know below.

Leeds fans show love for Gaetano Berardi after revealing interview

[ad_pod ]

After going five months without a Championship start for Leeds United following injury issues, Gaetano Berardi has been back in contention in recent weeks and has spoken in depth to BBC broadcaster Adam Pope about his problems this season, with Whites fans quick to give their reaction after the well-known reporter posted a clip of the interview on Twitter.

The enigmatic Swiss player says he has had worse moments in his career and has no complaints after battling back from the long-term hamstring tendon injury he suffered in 2018.

Berardi has become a popular figure among the Elland Road faithful over the years because of his committed performances on the pitch and the fact that he comes across as something of a warrior for the club, as can be seen from the replies to Pope’s tweet.

Many of those who commented said that they love his attitude and his clear love for the team, while one wants him to start in what could be a feisty encounter against Millwall at the end of the month – something that is a real distinct possibility given Pontus Jansson has been ruled out for up to three weeks after an injury last weekend.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction from supporters…

Bradford City fans welcome Gary Bowyer to the club

[ad_pod ]

Bradford City have announced that Gary Bowyer has become the club’s new manager, having initially agreed to take charge until the end of the season.

Bowyer certainly faces a tough task in saving the Bantams’ campaign, as the League One outfit are currently mired in the relegation zone. The 47-year-old is replacing David Hopkin in the Valley Parade hot seat, who resigned last week, as reported by the BBC.

Bowyer brings plenty of experience to his new position, having previously impressed in stints with Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool. Those previous roles have certainly armed him with plenty of League One experience.

He will have to call upon all of that experience to steer Bradford clear of relegation this season. The Bantams are in serious trouble and are also in poor form, having gone without victory in their last five league outings.

Bowyer’s appointment may restore some optimism at Valley Parade but this is still a club with a mountain to climb.

Following the announcement of Bowyer’s arrival, plenty of Bradford fans took to Twitter to welcome the new manager…

Celtic fans turn on Motherwell after sportsmanship controversy

[ad_pod ]

James Scott was the villain of Celtic Park and Twitter with a complete lack of sportsmanship to bring Motherwell back into the game at 2-1 against the champions on Sunday.

Gboly Aribiyi became the first domestic player to score against Celtic in 2019 when he slotted the ball into the net once the home defenders realised that they weren’t getting the ball back.

That incident happened in the 52nd minute. It took Celtic until the 90th minute to restore their two goal advantage as an angry home support bayed for retribution.

An injury to Ryan Christie kicked off the controversy as the ball was knocked out of play to allow the midfielder to leave the pitch for treatment.

As Celtic waited for the ball to be returned, the throw-in reached Scott who headed down the wing at full pace and squared to Aribiyi who netted from a tight angle.

Dedryck Boyata was booked for protesting and the ground was in confusion as the fans realised that the goal was standing with Motherwell far from apologetic.

Manager Stephen Robinson could have instructed his players to allow Celtic to score from the restart. He didn’t and over 30 minutes of anger followed before Odsonne Edouard and Oliver Burke scored later on to maintain Celtic’s eight point advantage at the top of the SPFL table.
