Nasir Hossain: I tried to stay normal during the time I was out of the team [last August] but it wasn’t easy. I spoke to coaches and former cricketers, spent time in the nets and I think it all helped me. I tried to enjoy my batting, which brought me back to form. I scored in a number of matches, I believed that if I scored runs, I can return to the team.
Taskin Ahmed: My target is to make it to the playing XI. If I get the chance, I will give my best and prove myself. I played in the World T20 all of a sudden. I want to perform at such a level that the world knows who I am.
Taijul Islam: I have been selected for doing well in two series and in domestic cricket, so that is quite pleasing. I am following the India-Australia series and the Big Bash matches, and trying to figure out what the spinners are doing. The rest I will understand when I am there.
Al-Amin Hossain: I was a little confused whether I will be in the team or not. I had a good 2014 except for the Zimbabwe series, but I think I have returned to bowling in good rhythm in the last few Premier League matches. Maybe that’s why I am in the squad.
Arafat Sunny: I am very happy, excited. I am at a loss of words. I will try to do what the team needs. I have to start improving from January 12 when the camp starts. The most important thing will be to remain fit and healthy.

The selectors must have thought about me before they picked me. I was thinking of today’s match, since it is an important one. It does feel great that we became champions and I got a chance to play in the World Cup for the first time. It is a big deal for me.”Sarkar is the youngest of three brothers who grew up in the southwestern district of Satkhira. His Pushpen Sarkar played club cricket for a number of years, and is now a businessman. He has been Sarkar’s guardian in Dhaka, and also during his years in the BKSP where he was admitted in 2006, in seventh grade.When he got into the cricket team of the sports institute, the talent came through. In an interschool one-day match, Sarkar struck 250-odd. He played for BKSP’s Premier League side for a few seasons before joining Victoria Sporting Club and later Prime Bank. A couple of years ago he struck a double-hundred in an Under-19 game against Qatar.Though his lack of big domestic runs has been talked about, Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha took an interest in Sarkarand he eventually made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe, where he struggled against moderate pace in a short innings.He might still be some way away from being the third seamer in a two-man pace attack, but for now he can rest assured that he deserves a place among the fifteen. His primary role of third opener/top-order option is due to his runs in the Dhaka Premier League this season. He ended up as the fourth highest scorer, but more importantly he has provided Prime Bank with good starts regularly.The season has started positively for him, and he would hope that the rest of it, particularly the World Cup, goes off as smoothly.

وواصل: “ألعب المباراة وهناك وجوه مألوفة بالنسبة لي، حتى المدرب تعاملت معه، لكن كل هذا خلف ظهري، كل هدفي الآن تقديم مباراة جيدة”.

وبسؤاله عن الفرق بين مواجهة مباراة السنة الماضية والمواجهة الحالية، أوضح: “اللقاء مختلف تمامًا عن المباراة الماضية، حيث إننا لعبنا اللقاء الماضي في دور المجموعات والآن نلعب في قبل النهائي بدوري السوبر الإفريقي”.

وأتم: “نخوض مباراة غداً، ونحن أبطال إفريقيا”.

وكان الفريقان تواجها العام الماضي في دور المجموعات لدوري أبطال إفريقيا، وفاز صن داونز بخمسة أهداف مقابل هدفين في جنوب إفريقيا، وانتهت مواجهة القاهرة بالتعادل الإيجابي 2-2.

يذكر أنه من المقرر أن يتواجه الأهلي مع صن داونز في مباراة الإياب لدور نصف نهائي بطولة دوري السوبر الإفريقي يوم الأربعاء المقبل 1 نوفمبر.

Smith’s co-panelist on the show, former India captain Rahul Dravid, agreed with him, tagging New Zealand as “serious contenders” for the title.”They have [Daniel] Vettori back in the spin department, and with [Tim] Southee, [Trent] Boult, [Mitchell] McClenaghan and [Kyle] Mills they have a solid pace attack,” Smith said. “If you look at their batting you have Brendon McCullum, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor, who are three outstanding batters. I think those three guys can certainly take the game away.”Dravid agreed with Smith about the depth of New Zealand’s pace attack giving them a distinct edge over other teams. “They’ve got different combinations and different kinds of skills in that fast-bowling department,” Dravid said. “They have some good death bowlers, someone like a Tim Southee has bowled well in the death, Boult has bowled well in the death. So I think they’ve got a really, really good pace attack. That’s why you look at them and you think these guys are one of the serious contenders.”New Zealand have a history of doing well in World Cups, having made six semi-finals in ten tournaments so far. Dravid believes that unlike fellow hosts Australia, New Zealand will not be under as much pressure from fans to claim the trophy. That, he said, could work to New Zealand’s advantage.”Australia has a great history in World Cups, there is an expectation as soon as Australia go out that anything less than winning is not good enough,” Dravid said. “I think with New Zealand, it’s a much smaller country, sure they’ll expect their team to do well but you’re not going to talk about winning straightaway. I think the pressure is going to be less on the New Zealand players, it’s probably going to be more of a celebration of their team and of the game and of the World Cup. And I think that momentum will carry them.”Smith said New Zealand will also enjoy the benefits of a settled captain in McCullum, under whom the team has put in strong performances across formats over the last year. “I really like McCullum as captain,” Smith said. “I think he’s doing a great job, he’s brought a new dynamic into that side, a little bit of steeliness and creativity, and his own batting seems to have gone up a notch since he’s got the captaincy.
