وتلاقى المنتخبان في إطار منافسات دور ربع نهائي البطولة، حيث خسرت البرازيل بركلات الترجيح بنتيجة 4-2.
وقال تياجو سيلفا في تصريحات بعد المباراة: “في كرة القدم، نحن عرضة لاستقبال هدف، بغض النظر عن الخصم على الجانب الآخر”.
وأضاف: “كرواتيا فريق جيد، فجأة يمكن أن نكون أكثر تركيزًا قليلاً، نحن لسنا معتادين على القيام بهذا النوع من الهجمات المرتدة”.
وواصل: “أعتقد لقد فقدنا التنظيم قليلاً في الكرة الثانية التي خسرناها، قمنا بالهجوم المرتد، وهو كل ما أرادوه في تلك اللحظة، بالإضافة إلى الكرة الهوائية”.
وأردف: “أنا فخور جدًا بالفتيان، بما نقوم به، لكن للأسف هذا جزء من كرة القدم، إنه يؤلم كثيرًا، لكن عليك أن ترفع رأسك والمضي قدمًا، لا يوجد بديل آخر”.
واختتم: “لسوء الحظ، كلاعب، لن أتمكن من رفع هذه الكأس، من يدري لاحقًا قد أفعل ذلك وأنا في منصب آخر”.
سيكون أمام نادي برشلونة مهمة ليست بالسهلة من أجل التعاقد مع لاعب وسط أنجيه ومنتخب المغرب الأول، عز الدين أوناحي، بعد تألقه في بطولة كأس العالم قطر 2022.
ويعد أوناحي أحد اللاعبين الذين يتواجدون على رادار نادي برشلونة منذ فترة، تمهيدًا للتحرك الرسمي والتعاقد معه لتدعيم خط الوسط ومركز 8 في شهر يناير المقبل.

“Can you imagine if we wrote Jacques Kallis off after his first 12 ODIs?” HD Ackerman, former South Africa Test batsman, asked. It would have meant aborting a career that has, so far, spanned 307 ODIs, seen over 11,000 runs, including 17 centuries, and boasts an average of 45.84.It’s unfathomable to think that such an illustrious career should have been cut short based on Kallis’ first 12 ODIs; in those, he only managed 203 runs, at an average of 25.38, with one half-century. That’s Ackerman’s answer when he is asked if he thinks David Miller has done enough in his short time as a national cricketer to warrant a place in the South African team. Miller has played in 12 ODIs and averages 26.50, slightly more than Kallis did at the same stage, but has not set the stage alight as much as was expected.In a shaky-looking middle to lower order, that consists of Miller, Johan Botha and the tail, it seems Miller is the weakest link. Ackerman has been one of Miller’s strongest backers and said that in time, he can become the strongest member of the middle order. “The selectors and the fans are going to be have to patient with him. He is only 21-years old but he has massive potential to represent South Africa in all forms of the game.”Patience is not something South Africa can afford to have in abundance for the next few weeks, because the World Cup is looming. “People are going to ask questions about him [Miller] because of the World Cup. South Africa are desperate to win the World Cup, so they want the best side possible,” Ackerman said. Miller’s position, at No.6 or 7, will be a crucial one according to Ackerman, because it will require batsmen to be able “to play spin well.”Ackerman saw the two places being contested between Miller, Colin Ingram and Faf du Plessis, with du Plessis guaranteed a spot if Ackerman was the man choosing. “Faf hasn’t played yet but he has the advantage of being able to bowl, which neither David or Colin do. He is also a fine fielder. The other two are also good fielders, but Faf is better than both of them.”Essentially, that means Miller and Ingram will fight it out for the remaining berth and Ackerman backed Miller to take it, saying his true batting style had not been allowed to come out at national level yet, but was lurking. “The David Miller I saw get out on Wednesday was not the David Miller I know. He is a good, clean hitter of the ball and he was trying to nudge and nurdle and he got out.”Miller made a name at the Dolphins for being a big hitter but Ackerman said that didn’t mean Miller can’t rotate the strike in the middle overs if needed. “When I say he is a big hitter, I mean that he gets the ball to the sweepers, the deep covers, the mid-offs. He doesn’t just drop the ball and run, he hits it well and far. He can still take a single or a two off those shots.” As for sticking to that skill and not getting bogged down into playing differently to what he is used to, Duncan Fletcher, the team’s batting consultant, felt that ability would come with time. “All it needs is a little bit more experience I guess,” he said.Ingram, who has more of that experience at the domestic level and has fared better in his nine ODIs than Miller has in his 12, may be the more automatic choice in the subcontinent for that reason. Ingram is currently standing in for Kallis in No.3 position, and it may be a tricky task for him to move down the order, according to Ackerman. “For him to be taken to the World Cup and have to bat six could be difficult. The No.3 and No.6 roles are completely different and it will need a total change of mindset.”Kallis is not going to play any part in the ODI series, which means Ingram will probably stay at No.3 for the remaining four matches and not have any time lower down the order. Ackerman felt that experience was vital but added that the line-up may shift as South Africa get within sniffing distance of the ICC showpiece. “If South Africa go three-nil up in the series, then we will start seeing them use their game-plan that they want to carry into the World Cup.” With conditions in South Africa very different to what they will experience in the subcontinent, they can’t afford to experiment with their World Cup combinations before securing the series. Whatever happens, Ackerman hopes Miller will be part of it.

وبعد انتهاء المباراة ولحظة دخول حكيمي، إلى الممر المؤدي إلى غرفة خلع الملابس، أوقف رئيس فيفا غاضباً ووجه له بعض الكلمات، بسبب الأداء التحكيمي في المباراتين الأخيرتين للمغرب، حسب العديد من التقارير.
وقال حكيمي في تصريحات للقناة الرياضية المغربية: “لم يحدث أي شيء، كنت غاضباً قليلاً بعد المباراة وذهبت للتحدث مع إنفانتينو”.

If ever a URL contained an entire saga in its few words, it had to be the one that thousands of World Cup ticket buyers found themselves facing on Monday: . The ICC World Cup 2011 is currently defined not by its month-long group matches, the presence of the game’s much-abused fringe element, the Associates, or its extremely malleable home advantage quarter-final round, but instead by its ticketing errors.The ICC is understood to be working with the host boards – which are responsible for ticketing – on resolving the issue. The options include taking the tickets off sale and instead distribute them through lots. The hosting agreement gives the hosts the responsibility for distribution, stamping and printing of gate tickets and hospitality tickets; it also says the hosts “will exercise strict control to conduct efficient orderly production and distribution and hospitality”.The most prominent errors took place on Monday afternoon when the servers of Kyazoonga.com, the ICC’s official ticketing partners, were overwhelmed with the load as the site went ‘live’ with sales for the final and semi-finals at 1pm India time. The website received close to ten million hits in a matter of minutes – half a million at any given moment – many of those people refreshing the site. It would have needed, a Kyazoonga staffer said, a server farm the “size of a football field” to keep up with that kind of demand. The site crashed by 1.05pm and the few people who had got into the system and begun purchasing their tickets found their plans hanging somewhere in cyberspace.The website went online again around 9.30pm IST with a statement that no tickets for the finals & semi-finals had been sold on Monday due to the system issues and that updates about the ticket sales would follow. So, all the tickets allocated for online sales will still be available once the Kyazoonga network teams in India, Europe and the United States get their servers up and running again. Kyazoonga were not willing to reveal an approximate time when that was expected to happen.A Kyazoonga spokesperson said while the surge in traffic had been expected, the site had not anticipated its scale. When ticket sales for World Cup group matches first went live on June 1, 2010, there had been no issues over server capacity. The firm had expected the demand to be several times over for the knockout games, “maybe five to ten times over but not 100.” There were even people knocking at the door of the Kyazoonga offices in New Delhi asking to purchase World Cup final tickets.What has also infuriated World Cup fans – whose angry comments on ESPNcricinfo hit the newswires all day – is not merely the fact that it has been impossible to buy tickets for the final online, but that there are so few tickets available to the general public at a venue with a very small capacity by Indian standards. The 33,000-seater Wankhede Stadium is one of the two smallest Indian grounds hosting World Cup matches. Only Mohali with a capacity of 27,500 is smaller. The rest are as follows: Eden Gardens – 63,000, Motera – 54,000, Chepauk – 45,000, Ferozshah Kotla – 42,000, Nagpur – 45,000, Chinnaswamy – 37,000. Among the 33,000 seats in the Wankhede, only 4000 are for sale to the public – the rest will be distributed to the ICC and the Mumbai Cricket Association’s member clubs – which is a disproportionately small number for the biggest event in world cricket. All previous finals have been held at larger venues except for the 2007 final in Bridgetown and the first three editions. Those were played at Lord’s, which at the time had a capacity of 28,000, but the number of tickets made available to the public was still somewhere around 14,000.The ticket pricing at the Wankhede, according to the ICC’s official ticket guide, is the most expensive across the World Cup. The price-range for the first match at the Wankhede on March 13, New Zealand v Canada, is between Rs 2500 to Rs 3750. The March 18 match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka ranges from Rs 5000 to Rs 7500. The World Cup finals tickets are priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000.The other issue surrounding tickets that has affected grounds in India is that ticket sales are heavily dependent on the host team’s presence in any match. India are hosting most of the neutral games while co-hosts Bangladesh are staging only the six group matches featuring their own team and two quarter-finals, and Sri Lanka are hosting 13 matches, five featuring the home team, six as stand-in hosts for Pakistan, and one quarter-final and a semi-final.

Alan Butcher gave an assessment of his side the day before the game against Pakistan. The English coach of Zimbabwe – a nice symmetry to that, with England’s coach being from Zimbabwe – appears to have an intensely straight-talking side to him. He thought this World Cup had probably come four years too early for this group of players.He was asked today, after a seven-wicket loss to Pakistan, his side’s fourth in five group games, whether his side had given a good account of themselves in this tournament. Slowly, deliberately, he came to the stark conclusion that they hadn’t. The honesty should do Zimbabwe more good than harm. The humour will be needed as well. Asked how embarrassing his side’s collapse of ten for 72 against Sri Lanka was, he replied, “Embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as 9-29.”There is something to Butcher’s assessment that this is one World Cup too soon. Clearly there is workable material within the Zimbabwe side. They may not, as he also acknowledged, become world-beaters on the level of Australia or South Africa. But they can become a side that will come to be taken with some seriousness by the opposition.The batting is a problem currently. In four out of five matches, their top has toppled to such an extent that the game has been all but over in the first 15 overs. Against Pakistan they were down to 43 for 4 within 13 overs. Batting long does not come naturally yet. “We fielded well and bowled superbly, but that can’t be said about our batting,” Elton Chigumbura, the captain whose birthday it was, said. “We have to work on it because that has been the big problem through the tournament. Besides the batting part, we’ve put up a big fight. My biggest concern is on the batting in the first 15 overs, especially against stronger teams. We have to really work on that when we get home.”The decision to bat first itself seemed a strange one. Zimbabwe have talked up their bowling through the tournament though its lack of wicket-taking incisiveness would suggest otherwise. They went nearly 80 overs against New Zealand and Sri Lanka without taking a wicket.Here, under heavy cloud with showers around, and a nervy Pakistan batting line-up susceptible to precisely such circumstances, here was a sliver of a chance. Chigumbura chose instead to make first use of the surface because, he said, it seemed a good pitch and other sides had batted first on it and flourished.Stoppages for rain didn’t help Zimbabwe, especially the one that ultimately curtailed their innings just when the last Powerplay had begun. “We lost momentum with the rain stopping and playing again,” Chigumbura said. “The way we approached the innings was to go out in our last four overs but we didn’t get that. That’s cricket.”But ultimately, the batting just wasn’t good enough. “Unfortunately [the story is] pretty much the same as the game before and the game before that,” Butcher conceded. “Everybody in the dressing room, particularly the batters, are very unhappy about the way things are. None of our players are trying to give their wickets away, they are all working hard and trying to improve but things are not going their way going well for 80% of our batting unit.”That happens sometimes in any team, the only thing we can do is to keep practicing, try identifying areas players need to improve and devise ways for that to happen. There’s no magic formula. We have to keep going. You can tell by the way we fielded and the way spinners battled against the conditions, gripping the ball, there is no lack of spirit in the side. We just have to keep working.”The focus may now switch to Chigumbura’s captaincy. He doesn’t believe it has particularly affected his form, but he’s only made 58 runs in five games in the tournament. “I haven’t performed the way I wanted, but maybe it’s one of those times when you just go out of form. Unfortunately it came when I was the captain but obviously I am working hard to get into form but at the end of the day it is not my decision, it’ the board’s.”
