‘O Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas informa que o atleta Roger iniciou um quadro de dor lombar atípica, sendo então encaminhado ao hospital para investigação. Após realizar alguns exames foi constatado a presença de um tumor no polo inferior do rim direito. Por isso o atleta foi encaminhado para uma primeira avaliação com um urologista, que caracterizou o tumor como de tratamento cirúrgico e com alta chance de cura.

Ainda será complementado com novos exames para uma definição mais precisa e estabelecimento de conduta. O clube tem dado todo o apoio para o atleta e está acompanhando tudo de perto através do seu Departamento Médico.

O atacante Roger esteve hoje no Estádio Nilton Santos com otimismo e recebeu todo o apoio do treinador Jair Ventura, comissão técnica e de seus companheiros.’

Srinivasan did not disclose IMG’s fee for conducting and managing the IPL’s second season but claimed that the BCCI has paid Rs 42.92 crore to the firm for the first edition in 2008.Srinivasan claimed in the letter that he and Shashank Manohar, the BCCI president, had met Wildblood in London in June for negotiations on the issue and had asked IMG to submit a fresh fee proposal before the BCCI’s next working committee on August 13. IMG failed to do so, Srinivasan claimed in the letter and concluded: “Therefore, please note that BCCI has taken a decision not to use IMG service anymore for the IPL tournament.”When contacted, Srinivasan and Wildblood neither confirmed nor denied the development. “I would refrain from making a comment,” Srinivsan said. “I am not able to make any comment at this time,” Wildblood said. Lalit Modi, the IPL chairman, declined to comment too.The IPL franchises were informed about the decision only on Saturday morning through a separate email sent by league officials, a franchise official confirmed.Sources in the IPL governing council said they expected IMG to drag the Indian board to court over the issue, but the latest development is on expected lines as the payment to the sports management firm was a matter of debate within the BCCI last year too. One section of officials claimed that the fee was exorbitant and argued that IMG’s role was over once the tournament was launched. Others have pointed to the crucial role played by the firm in conceptualizing, implementing and managing the league that has been widely acknowledged as a huge success; this is a view that has been backed by many franchise officials, one of whom said his team would always prefer to have independent professionals managing the IPL..

What’s the word?

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the 52-year-old boss has requested defensive reinforcements, with two key targets in mind in Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt and his former Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni.

Conte managed the latter during his Serie A title-winning campaign last season but it remains to be seen how much it would command to bring him to north London.

Transfermarkt currently value him at £54m.

Shades of Vertonghen

Bastoni played 33 times for the Italian in the league last season, featuring alongside Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij in his famed three-at-the-back system.

The trio contributed towards Inter recording the best defensive record in the division, so it’s no surprise that Conte would be keen to have him in his squad once again.

Unlike much of his current options at Spurs, Bastoni is a natural left-footer, so he would be of huge use in 2022, especially as the manager has had to turn to left-back Ben Davies to fill that left-sided role due to the lack of options.

Interestingly, the 22-year-old defender started life out as a full-back but as his career has gone on, he has developed into a solid central option, with his ball-playing ability and control two major strengths to his game.

This could, therefore, draw some similarities to Vertonghen, who was a crucial and influential defender in N17 for many, many years. He too was a ball-playing left-footer that could be deployed in the middle or out wide.

“He controls the opponent, space and with a refinement that has rarely been seen, reminds me of a young [Leonardo] Bonucci,” once claimed Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti.

The praise for Bastoni doesn’t just stop there, though.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig once lauded him as a “complete, dominant and elegant” centre-back, as well as being “Conte’s talisman” at the San Siro, whilst tactical analysts Top Bins Talk dubbed him a “Rolls-Royce defender”.

In Bastoni, Paratici could well discover Spurs’ new Vertonghen and he’s the sort of player that Conte could really do with right now on the left side of defence.

McGrath was planning a holiday when he was a last-minute addition for Delhi in the Champions League and, following some training sessions after landing in India, he picked up 2 for 20 as his side overcame Wayamba on Sunday.McGrath, who retired from internationals after the 2007 World Cup win, was staying in the same hotel as his former New South Wales team-mates and ended up with another role. ”Glenn will be working with the boys,” the coach Matthew Mott told the Sydney Morning Herald. ”He’s pretty excited by some of the young guys coming through, Josh Hazlewood and those sort of guys. Just that simple approach he has to bowling, and the respect he obviously has from everyone in the game, is going to be invaluable to us.”After a 124-Test career, McGrath stepped down with 563 wickets and waved goodbye in the final Ashes contest of 2006-07. He had an uncomplicated yet wildly successful method and Mott said he had a great deal to pass on.”He always had a lot of belief in his ability and if he can transfer that to our players, it’ll be awesome,” Mott said. “He wants to get involved for the first time on a regular basis and really help us out and that’s going to be great for us. For that kind of role, you couldn’t really pick anyone you’d rather have.”After not playing a game in the IPL, McGrath had done no bowling until arriving in Delhi but picked things up instantly. “I could always land the ball pretty well, but I wasn’t quick and that’s something I’d rather be,” he said. “But it’s good to be out here playing and to be a part of a pretty good win.”The performance left New South Wales hoping they don’t have to run into him in the latter stages of the competition. ”We just sat down and marvelled at his ability to come in and consistently put the ball on the same spot,” Mott said. ”It was amazing.”

“We need players with the right mentality and with the quality, players that deserve to play for Tottenham and aspire to be competitive, to fight for this shirt, to win something,” said the former Inter boss.

The Latest: Eight players safe…

Writing for The Mirror, reporter Lewis has revealed that eight more players are safe from his looming axe, but most ‘if not all’ of the others squad members are fighting for their futures at the club.

He explains that Sergio Reguilon, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Lucas Moura, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp have all ‘impressed’ Conte behind the scenes – with Ryan Sessegnon also expected to be given more chances despite his red card in midweek.

The Verdict: Interesting claim…

Most of these names, like Reguilon, Dier, Lucas, Hojbjerg, Tanganga and Skipp have all arguably impressed at some point this season, leaving little surprise Conte favours them.

However, one surprise names in this list is arguably Davies, mainly because he has attracted real criticism for some of his displays this season.

Perhaps the Wales international’s experience, plus versatility as both a left-back and left-sided centre-back, has landed him in good stead with Conte.

As this interesting claim emerges, Spurs fans will be watching on eagerly to see if this crop of players become mainstays under their new manager.

It was a brisk triple-hundred, which came at a strike-rate of 93.69 with 44 fours and seven sixes. Sumeet Sharma supported him with a stand of 71 for the sixth wicket to extend Haryana’s domination. Sunny went past Ajay Jadeja’s 256, a Haryana record which stood for nearly 18 years. Jadeja’s feat came against Services in Faridabad in the 1991-92 season. Sunny’s epic ended when he was stumped by Naman Ojha off Abbas Ali for 312. Madhya Pradesh lost Ojha for 31 but ended the day in a good position at 113 for 1.Sunny was thrilled at entering the record books but remained aware of the bigger target for his team this season. “It’s special being the first triple centurion of the season, but what makes it more so is that it’s the first from my state,” he told the . “My goal this year will be to lift the team to the Elite Group.”

Padmanabhan Prashanth finally got the breakthrough when he got rid of Sahabuddin for 120. Sachin Baby soon accounted for Sumanth with the score on 412. Jharkhand’s Shiv Gautham was denied a century on first-class debut by a narrow five runs but he took his team to a position of strength, setting up a total of 431 against Tripura at the Metallurgical and Engineering Consultant Limited Sail Stadium in Ranchi. Jharkhand were in danger of being bowled out for a lesser score, but a ninth-wicket stand of 86 between Gautham and Varun Aaron lifted them. It was upto Rahul Shukla, the No.11, to stick around as Gautham neared a century, but a run-out left him stranded on 95. His innings included eight fours and two sixes. Shukla, however, contributed with the ball as he picked up two wickets to reduce Tripura to 116 for 3 at stumps.

Four-wicket hauls by Pankaj Singh and Vivek Yadav helped Rajasthan gain control with a first-innings lead of 39 in Guwahati. Assam lost the plot after a strong opening stand of 87 between Parvez Aziz and Dheeraj Jadhav, losing their last nine wickets for 86 runs. Pankaj, the right-arm seamer who was a fringe player during India’s tour of Australia in 2007-08, took the important wickets of Aziz and Amol Muzumdar while Yadav, the legspinner, chipped away at the middle and lower-order. The lack of partnerships hurt Assam as they folded for a disappointing 189.
