O Santos até que tentou, criou algumas chances, mas, na partida que teve a estreia do atacante Nilmar no segundo tempo, o Peixe empatou pela terceira vez seguida por 0 a 0 no Brasileirão. O placar contra o Coritiba impediu que a equipe encostasse no vice-líder Grêmio, que também somou apenas um ponto na rodada – 0 a 0 com o Atlético-PR. O time paranaense, por sua vez, fica a apenas três pontos da zona do rebaixamento.

Quando o árbitro Sandro Meira Ricci apitou, pareceu que apenas o Coritiba ouviu. Em um ritmo intenso, o Coxa marcou alto, pressionou e finalizou três vezes em apenas um minuto e meio. Não levou perigo ao goleiro Vanderlei, mas deu trabalho para os zagueiro Lucas Veríssimo e David Braz.

Não demorou para o Santos acertar o passe e devolver na mesma moeda. Com um time sólido, insistiu nos contra-ataques e, por pouco, não balançou a rede alviverde. Pela direita, Bruno Henrique avançou e encontrou Kayke. Ele até tentou cruzar, mas foi impedido pela zaga, que nem sequer permitiu que a bola chegasse ao camisa 11.

Mas a dupla insistiu. Em um tiro de meta de Vanderlei, Bruno desviou pelo alto e fez com que a bola chegasse a Kayke, que dominou e bateu cruzado, mas apesar da precisão, a bola rolou para fora.

Os times voltaram sem novidades para o segundo tempo, mas desgastados por conta da chuva forte e contínua, e dos 12 graus que fazia em Curitiba.

O Coxa não mudou a postura do primeiro tempo, tanto que aos seis minutos assustou a defesa santista. Iago Dias recebeu e bateu forte, no ângulo, mas Vanderlei se esticou inteiro e buscou em uma bela defesa.

Em uma disputa forte, o Peixe levou a melhor e conseguiu controlar melhor a partida a partir daquele lance. Com tranquilidade na defesa e um meio-campo bem articulado, sofreu porque o ataque não encaixava. Lucas Lima se destacou pela criação e bons passes, mas Copete não estava em uma boa noite e mais errou do que acertou, enquanto Kayke insistia na finalização, sem sucesso, e Bruno Henrique não brilhou como de costume.

Em meio a tantas chances, o técnico Levir Culpi apostou na estreia de Nilmar para tentar uma arrancada e abrir o placar. Aos 21 minutos, com o gramado encharcado e ambos os times cansados, o atleta entrou em campo pela primeira vez.

Mas a presença do experiente jogador, de 33 ano,s não foi o suficiente e 13 minutos mais tarde o Alviverde conseguiu sua maior chance. Alan Santos ficou com a sobra e arriscou um chute de longe, que acertou a trave esquerda de Vanderlei. A bola sobrou para o ex-santista Neto Berola, que cruzou, mas não encontrou ninguém. Um pouco antes, Vanderlei já tinha praticado uma defesaça em chute de longe de Iago Santos.

Após isso, o Coritiba cresceu na partida e seguiu na busca pelo gol, mas não obteve sucesso e encerrou a partida no 0 a 0. Um placar que sintetiza bem a trajetória do Peixe neste Brasileirão: o time tem a segunda melhor defesa (13 gols sofridos), mas é um dos piores ataques da competição(22 gols em 21 partidas).

O próximo desafio do Coxa no Campeonato Brasileiro será na outra segunda-feira, contra o Vitória, no estádio Couto Pereira, às 20h, enquanto o Peixe enfrentará o Cruzeiro no domingo, no Mineirão, às 19h.

Newcastle United have now been backed by Noel Whelan in their pursuit of Conor Coady in the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Coady on shortlist

A source from the St. James’ Park faithful has claimed to Football Insider that Coady is on their shortlist ahead of January.

It will reportedly take a bid of around £30m to sign the central defender from Wolves, who is under contract at the Molineux until 2025.

The Latest: Whelan backs Coady move

Speaking to Football Insider about those claims, former Leeds United and Coventry City striker Whelan has backed the North East club in their pursuit of Coady:

“He’s a brilliant defender and consistency is what you will get from him.

“Newcastle have struggled defensively for a number of years now, so getting a defender like him into the spine of that side will be massive.

“That’s the first place I’d be looking.

“You have Wilson, Saint-Maximin and Almiron in the attack, so you have enough there but the frailties are at the back and at centre-half, for me.

“Connor Coady is a player you would be more than happy with at your football club.

“He’s got the leadership qualities, he’s an England international now and he is a very consistent performer for Wolves.”

The Verdict: Too much money

There is always going to be a premium price to pay for English players in the market, but £30m is simply too much for Coady, considering that his market value is currently rated at £22.5m by Transfermarkt.

Being the captain at Molineux, he would certainly offer leadership to the team, and at 28 years of age, is in his prime.

However, he has been no better than Ciaran Clark and Jamaal Lascelles in terms of average interceptions (one), clearances (2.7) and blocks (0.6) per game in the Premier League so far this season (Whoscored), and even though money is not an object to the new owners, they should either be looking to get him for cheaper or look elsewhere.

Mas esse período será não só de preparação visando ao duelo contra o Grêmio, pela Copa Libertadores. Contra o Bahia, neste domingo, a equipe teve quatro jogadores com problemas físicos a serem recuperados.

– Perdi três jogadores por lesão. Poderia ser um período só de preparação, mas temos que recuperá-los, fora o Gilson, que machucou o nariz. Fico feliz pela vitória, mas triste pelas lesões – lamenta Jair Ventura.

As três substituições feitas pelo treinador alvinegro foram forçadas pelas lesões. Victor Luís sentiu dores na coxa esquerda e saiu no segundo tempo; Marcos Vinícius sofreu com o músculo adutor da coxa direita e não voltou ao campo após o intervalo. O primeiro a sair, porém, foi Carli. O capitão fez cara de dor ao esticar a perna direita ainda na primeira etapa.

Flocking to Twitter, many Nottingham Forest fans have erupted over an official club tweet involving loanee defender Djed Spence amid his impressive run of form.

The 21-year-old, who signed on loan from Middlesborough late in the summer transfer window, has gone on to become a revelation under Steve Cooper at the City Ground.

According to WhoScored, Spence has averaged the second-highest match rating per 90 out of this entire squad whilst completing more dribbles per 90 than any Forest player with more than two appearances.

Marking himself out as one of their top performers so far this season, the young defender has just been rewarded as Forest posted an official club tweet. Indeed, for his outstanding contribution over the month of October, Spence has now been named the club’s player of the month.

Flocking to this announcement, many supporters were overjoyed, whilst a few pleaded with the club to sign him on a permanent deal. There were also those who aren’t looking forward to seeing him return to his parent club, and given his performances so far, it’s little wonder why.

كشفت تقارير سعودية، عن مدة غياب لاعب اتحاد جدة الجديد، بعد تعرضه لإصابة مع فريقه السابق، قبل الانضمام للعميد.

وكان نادي الاتحاد قد أعلن، صباح أمس الأول الخميس، التعاقد مع محمد الصيعري لمدة موسمين، في صفقة انتقال حر، بعدما منحه الفيصلي مخالصة.

وكان الصيعري قد تعرض لإصابة بكدمة في الركبة، خلال آخر تدريب له مع فريقه السابق الفيصلي.
