Cuca comandou sua última partida pelo Palmeiras neste domingo. Com o triunfo sobre o Vitória, o técnico chegou a 30 vitórias em 53 jogos pelo clube – além de 11 empates e 12 derrotas. Com o título brasileiro e uma campanha que acumulou marcas históricas, o treinador se despede satisfeito.

Charlie Wyke was at the centre of the drama in Sunderland’s League One play-off semi-final second leg against Lincoln City. 

Top-scorer Wyke spurned a glorious opportunity shortly after Ross Stewart had put Sunderland in front – he rounded Lincoln goalkeeper Alex Palmer and could have squared to an arriving Chris Maguire for a tap-in.

Instead, though, Wyke went for goal himself and inexplicably fired his shot straight at the covering defender.

It looked as if he had made amends when he doubled the Black Cats’ lead just after the half-hour mark, meeting Aiden McGeady’s cross with an outstretched leg and beat Palmer.

But then, 10 minutes into the second half, he came back to defend a Lincoln corner and lost his man, Tom Hopper, who headed home to restore Lincoln’s advantage on aggregate.

Wyke lost nine aerial duels in total, conceded possession 12 times times and made only 12 accurate passes in the game, fewer than Sunderland ‘keeper Lee Burge (via SofaScore).

كشف يحيى الكومي رئيس نادي الإسماعيلي، حقيقة رحيل حمد إبراهيم المدير الفني للفريق الأول، مشيرًا إلى أنه لا نيه للتفريط في خدمات باهر المحمدي.

وقال الكومي في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر فضائية “ten”: “تفاوضت مع حسام وإبراهيم حسن لتدريب الإسماعيلي قبل قدوم حمد إبراهيم، لكنهما أكدا احترامهما لتعاقدهما مع الاتحاد السكندري”.

وتابع: “حمد ابراهيم أظهر بصماته مع الإسماعيلي في فترة قصيرة ومستمر مع الدراويش ولا صحة لرحيله كما تردد في وسائل الإعلام”.

After seeing their first-team round off the Premier League season in style on Sunday, Aston Villa’s youngsters added to the feel-good factor surrounding the club by lifting the FA Youth Cup on Monday night.

Villa ran out 2-1 winners over Liverpool, as goals from Ben Chrisene and Brad Young were enough to ensure the Midlands club got their hands on the trophy for the first time since 2002.

And while much of the hype this season has been around the likes of Louie Barry – who scored in the FA Cup against Liverpool’s senior side – and Carney Chukwuemeka – who made his first-team debut at Spurs – it was Young who arguably stole the show on Sunday.

The 18-year-old forward was full of energy and dynamism, and earned his just rewards when he stepped up to take a penalty after he was initially tripped by Liverpool’s Billy Koumetio.

The goal was Young’s 21st in all competitions, and another reminder to Villa’s first-team boss Dean Smith that the club have got some incredible talents on their hands in the academy.

And, writing in his post-match player ratings for The Birmingham Mail, Ashley Preece gave him a nine, saying: “The 18-year-old from Solihull ran Liverpool ragged all evening. He must have been watching Ollie Watkins this season as he pressed his centre-backs into submission.

“Young was like a man possessed and he got his goal after a run in behind off Lindley’s free-kick to win a penalty. Young dispatched in similar vein to Bruno Fernandes for his 21st goal of the season. Barry looked right in the mood as well as he danced past two before striking off the post as he was off balance. It was an all-round performance and he looked a threat with Villa letting Liverpool back into it late on. Young’s development is one to keep an eye on next season.”

And that last line there on Young being “one to keep an eye on” is certainly something Villa fans should be all over during pre-season and when the new Premier League campaign gets under way.

Pouco depois das 1h deste domingo de Natal, o Vasco cumpriu a promessa feita no início da semana passada pelo presidente Eurico Miranda e anunciou o presente para a torcida do clube: o meia Damián Escudero. Com 29 anos, o argentino, que estava no Puebla, do México, chega a São Januário após ter o nome aprovado pelo técnico Cristovão Borges e ser velho conhecido do gerente de futebol Anderson Barros, com quem trabalhou no Vitória. O contrato será de dois anos.

Ainda não há confirmação de quando Escudero será apresentado pelo Vasco, mas é certo de que ele estará na reapresentação do elenco, marcada para o dia 2 de janeiro de 2017 em São Januário. O meia terá tempo para se entrosar no time principalmente durante a pré-temporada que será realizada nos Estados Unidos, com a participação na Flórida Cup. A delegação viaja em 10 de janeiro. Outros quatro reforços devem ser contratados para a próxima temporada, com o principal nome que vem em negociação sendo do atacante Luis Fabiano.

No texto de confirmação no site oficial, assinado por Eurico Miranda, o Vasco afirma que Escudero “é o primeiro dos reforços que serão anunciados nesta fase de festas natalinas e virada do ano”. A cúpula do futebol do clube e São Januário garante ainda que “negociações muito avançadas com outros jogadores continuam” e devem concretizá-las na próxima semana. O desejo do Vasco, vale lembrar, é o de ter todo o elenco fechado até a reapresentação.

Wolves have been linked with a move for Rangers boss Steven Gerrard recently and it would be a huge blow if the 40-year-old manager were to depart Ibrox this summer.

According to The Athletic, whilst Wolves are close to appointing Benfica boss Bruno Lage as their successor to Nuno Espirito Santo, there are still doubts over whether he will be eligible for a work permit, whilst Gerrard and Frank Lampard have both been considered as options by the Molineux outfit.

Fortunately for Rangers fans, it is claimed that Gerrard has not been formally approached by Wolves about their vacant manager position but if the appointment of Lage falls through, it would not be a surprise if they do act on their reported interest in the Liverpool legend.

Could Gerrard be lured away from Rangers by Wolves?

Wolves have established themselves as a Premier League force to be reckoned with since their promotion to the top-flight in 2018, as they have secured seventh, seventh and 13th placed finishes in their three seasons back in the Premier League.

Whilst this season was something of a struggle for the Midlands club, they were without star striker Raul Jimenez for much of the campaign after his fractured skull injury, whilst fellow forward Diogo Jota joined Liverpool last summer.

The Old Gold have a recent European campaign under their belt, as they reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League, so certainly have the potential to challenge both domestically and in Europe in the near future.

Although the “amazing” Gerrard has just won the title at Rangers and is undoubtedly looking forward to his side playing in the Champions League next season, Wolves would offer him a chance to test himself in the Premier League at an established club, which might just be enough to lure him away from Ibrox.

Certainly, when you consider the impact he has had during his time at Ibrox, it would be a massive blow to Rangers chairman Douglas Park if he were to leave the club this summer, so Gers fans will be desperate for Lage’s work permit to be approved so that he can take over at Molineux.

يحذر المدير الفني روبرتو مانشيني من أن إيطاليا لم يكن لديها الكثير من الوقت للتحضير لمباراتها أمام مقدونيا الشمالية والمباريات الفاصلة لكأس العالم، ولهذا السبب ركز على نفس اللاعبين الذين فازوا باليورو.

في استاد باربيرا يلتقي منتخب إيطاليا مع مقدونيا الشمالية بمباراة نصف النهائي في الملحق الأوروبي المؤهل لكأس العالم، وذلك في تمام العاشرة إلا ربع مساءً بتوقيت القاهرة.

سيواجه الفائز في تلك المباراة إما البرتغال أو تركيا للحصول على مكان في كأس العالم قطر 2022.

وقال مانشيني في المؤتمر الصحفي: “لم يكن لدينا الكثير من الوقت، كان على اللاعبين التعافي من الرحلات الطويلة والكثير من المباريات، لذلك كان لدينا نصف يوم فقط لتجربة المواقف التكتيكية”.

وأضاف: “هذا هو السبب في أننا ركزنا على نفس اللاعبين الذين فازوا ببطولة اليورو، لأنهم يعرفون بعضهم البعض وما نحتاج إلى القيام به”.

هناك أيضًا تسعة لاعبين في الفريق الحالي خاضوا إقصاء كأس العالم على يد السويد في نوفمبر 2017، وهي المرة الوحيدة بخلاف 1958 عندما فشلت إيطاليا في التأهل إلى البطولة.

وتابع: “هذه هي حياة الشخصية الرياضية، هناك نجاحات وإخفاقات، نتمنى جميعًا أن نحقق الانتصارات فقط، كل ما علينا فعله هو التركيز على أنفسنا، تلعب إيطاليا كرة قدم جيدة وعلينا التركيز، لا شيء أكثر من ذلك”.

سُئل مانشيني عن الذي تغير في المنتخب الإيطالي بعد الفوز ببطولة أوروبا 2020 وسقوطه في تصفيات كأس العالم، وجاء الرد: “لقد حاولنا دائمًا لعب كرة القدم لدينا، الشيء الوحيد هو أنه عندما تستعد لكأس العالم أو بطولة أوروبا، يكون لديك وقت للعمل في التدريبات بشكل مكثف، عندما تلعب في منتصف الموسم، لا نمتلك هذه الرفاهية”.

وأتم مانشيني: “باليرمو كان يدعمنا دائمًا وسوف يفعل هذه المرة أيضًا، مع بيع تذاكر الملعب بالكامل ومن الإيجابي أيضًا أنه بعد عامين، هذه هي المباراة الأولى بسعة 100 في المائة”.
