أعلن حارس مرمى الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي يوفنتوس، جيانلويجي بوفون، عن رحيله النهائي والرسمي من العملاق الإيطالي بنهاية الموسم الجاري.

وكان بوفون قد عاد إلى يوفنتوس في صيف عام 2019 بعد موسم واحد في باريس سان جيرمان، وينتهي عقده الحالي في 30 يونيو المقبل.

وفجر صاحب الـ 43 عامًا مفاجأة من العيار الثقيل في حواره مع شبكة “BeinSports” وعبر عن رأيه في البداية عن موسم يوفنتوس الحالي، وقال: “عانينا كثيرًا وفشلنا في الحفاظ على مستوانا”.

وأضاف: “أمام أفضل الفرق في إيطاليا حققنا نتائج جيدة لكن في المقابل خسرنا الكثير من النقاط أمام فرق أقل مستوى، هذا يعني أن هناك مشكلة في شخصية وقوة يوفنتوس”.

وعن مستقبله: “واضح ومحدد، هذا الموسم ستنتهي هذه التجربة الجميلة والطويلة جدًا مع يوفنتوس”.

وتابع: “إما أن اعتزل أو إذا وجدت فريقًا يحفزني على الاستمرار داخل المستطيل الأخضر أو خوض تجربة جديدة ومختلفة، فسأضع ذلك في الاعتبار”.

Over the years, Leeds fans moaning about Sky Sports has become something of a tradition.

Indeed, the fanbase have often complained about the broadcasters apparent obsession with their football club and how disruptive their influence can be each and every weekend.

However, it seems as if Sky are falling out of love with the Elland Road outfit this term as Leeds Live curated the stats that show United aren’t on TV anywhere near as often as they were last season.

In 2018/19, 47% of their matches were shown live on TV. So far this term, that figure has dropped considerably to 33.3%.

While this could be construed as a little bit of a negative as United won’t be receiving as much TV money as last year, it could actually have a positive impact on the team’s results.

Playing at 3pm on a Saturday most weeks can actually be an advantage for teams as it allows them to get into a routine, while also reducing any pressure the side may feel when playing earlier or later.

As a promotion-chasing side, Leeds will feel a lot of pressure whenever they step out onto a pitch, but having an early or late kick-off can exacerbate that.

Playing before your rivals can add some pressure as you don’t want to open the door for another team to leapfrog you while playing later can create a more intense situation as you know exactly what’s at stake if you fail to pick up the points.

Kicking-off more often at 3pm on a Saturday could actually help the Whites in their push for promotion as it’s a more level playing field in terms of adding or removing pressure based on the results of the teams around them.

Not only that, but it also creates a better routine. In terms of on-field performances, this is certainly a help, rather than a hinderance.

Following the victory, Dean Smith was full of praise for his goalkeeper, which Aston Villa’s official Twitter page posted about.

It was not only the manager that Heaton was getting applause from though, as many fans were delighted with how he performed during the game.

This recognition was well deserved, as some of his saves were highly impressive, including his diving stops to keep out Federico Fernandez’s header and a curling effort from Allan Saint-Maximin.

One fan went as far as to say the 33-year-old “could easily be at a better club”.

There has even been the suggestion made that Heaton is the best of the 12 signings Villa made during the summer, while another suggested he is pound for pound the best signing in the Premier League.

This is quite a compliment for the Villa man, considering Tyrone Mings has played well enough to earn a first England call-up, while Wesley has gone on to become the club’s undisputed striker, starting all 13 of their Premier League games.

There have also been comparisons made to former Villa goalkeepers, such as Brad Friedel and Jimmy Rimmer.

That he is already so highly regarded, despite having played just 12 times for the club can only be a good sign for his future at Villa Park.

And if they are to have any success, they will have to stop Rashford, who has been a shining light in an otherwise disappointing season for the Red Devils.

United are currently 10th, level on points with Burnley, but the England international has scored seven Premier League goals in 14 appearances or one in every two.

Add into that the forward’s four assists and one gets a picture of a player who is affecting the game at the top end of the pitch.

Per WhoScored, Rashford averages three shots per game, as well as 1.4 key passes and 1.8 dribbles, while he is fouled 1.6 times per game. Perhaps surprisingly, he also makes 0.8 tackles per game while averaging a pass success rate of 76.7%.

A looming threat

Mourinho will have to find a way to stop the 22-year-old if Spurs are to take all three points.

Per those fixtures where Transfermarkt has recorded his position, Rashford has played nine times as a left winger this season and nine times as a centre-forward; he has played as the former in the last five Premier League outings.

If that remains the case, it will come down to Serge Aurier to stop him.

The Spurs right-back has been in good form under Mourinho, laying on two assists and scoring once in his first three games, but that has been as a more attack-minded presence.

He will have to keep his discipline – he was sent off against Southampton earlier this season and conceded a penalty against Liverpool – and hold his position to avoid Rashford exploiting the space in behind and creating chances for both himself and his team-mates.

It is a big job, but the defender simply has to do it.

Meanwhile, one Spurs midfielder has another huge task on his hands against United.

كشفت إذاعة “كوبي” الإسبانية، أن الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم “يويفا”، يريد طرد أندية ريال مدريد وبرشلونة ويوفنتوس من منافسات دوري أبطال أوروبا.

وكان “يويفا” قد أصدر بيانًا رسميًا يوم الثلاثاء، أفاد خلاله أنه تم فتح اجراءات تأديبية لـ ريال مدريد وبرشلونة ويوفنتوس، بسبب رغبتهم في إتمام مشروع السوبر ليج (طالع البيان).

وبحسب إذاعة “كوبي”، يعتزم “يويفا” طرد ريال مدريد وبرشلونة ويوفنتوس من دوري أبطال أوروبا، بالإضافة لفرض غرامة مالية باهظة عليهم.

في مواجهة هذه العقوبة المحتملة، قد تلجأ الفرق الثلاثة إلى المحكمة الرياضية.

Daniel Levy may believe he has pulled off a masterstroke if he has included a clause within Mauricio Pochettino’s contract that appears to preclude him from moving to another Premier League club.

The Daily Express reports that the ex-Spurs boss was given a £12.5m pay-off when he left the club.

However, if he wishes to take another job in England before the end of the season, he will have to give the entirety of the money back to Levy.

Of course, he has been linked with a number of jobs since his departure from Spurs.

Manchester United are struggling under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while Arsenal have sacked Unai Emery. Both clubs have reportedly identified Pochettino as a potential acquisition.

But the clause should matter little.

He’s available and is a manager with an incredible track record. At Spurs, he built a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title and reaching the Champions League final. He didn’t win any silverware but he is a progressive, forward-thinking boss.

He could potentially work wonders at United with a squad that is currently leaning heavily on young players, though it remains to be seen if he would be willing to move to a club that have struggled to finish in the top four consistently in recent seasons. They have finished in the Champions League qualification places on one occasion – when they finished second under current Spurs boss Jose Mourinho in 2017/18 – in the last four campaigns.

Arsenal is a prospect that does not bear thinking about for most Spurs supporters but there is an excellent squad there that could do with a magic touch; Tottenham fans will tell you that Pochettino has one of those.

But the £12.5m fee should only be the beginning of any conversation.

The finances behind managerial appointments are rarely made clear but Pochettino was reportedly earning £8.5m-per-year during his time at Spurs.

He would surely want similar were he to join either United or Arsenal and they would likely have to fund the compensatory price that Pochettino would need to pay back too.

If that were the case, they’d be facing up to a £21m bill to appoint the Argentine. Neither Arsenal nor United would bat an eyelid at paying that for a player.

When one really thinks about it, it is small change for two clubs who are looking to return to the elite. If they want to make a genuine statement by appointing Pochettino, they should pay up.

It would be something that would surely leave Levy with mixed emotions, with £12.5m back in his pocket but with the potential prospect of seeing the man he sacked shine at a Premier League rival.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans hailed one man after his excellent display against Bournemouth.
