Lots of QPR fans have taken to Twitter to point the finger at Yoann Barbet once again, after the Frenchman’s alarming lack of awareness saw Portsmouth score a simple second goal in their 2-0 Carabao Cup win.

The R’s supporters on Twitter have already slammed the summer signing from Brentford for his dismal performance in the recent 3-1 loss to Swansea, and they have wasted no time in hurling criticism at the 26-year-old once again after a quite shocking piece of defending against Pompey – if you can even call it defending, that is.

Marcus Harness had an easy tap in to score Portsmouth’s second goal in just four minutes as the 6ft 2 defender was caught jogging back whilst watching the ball, a mistake – or lack of desire depending on your interpretation – that allowed Harness to easily sneak into the box and slot home with ease.

It was a quite shocking lack of quality from a professional footballer which would even have drawn criticism in Sunday League football, let alone for a Championship side in the Carabao Cup.

After seeing all the excitement of an opening-day win over rivals Chelsea fade into a distant memory, Manchester United head to Southampton on Saturday with a lot to prove.

The Red Devils’ creditable 1-1 draw away at Wolves was overshadowed by the infamous penalty saga, and all sense of a good start to the Premier League campaign firmly disappeared with an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Heading into the game at St. Mary’s, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must contend with some serious injury concerns as he looks to kick his side back into gear. Keeping that in mind, here is a look at how United could potentially line up against the Saints.

Despite a costly error in the dying stages last time out, David de Gea will remain United’s number one. In front of him, the majority of the back-four should stay the same, but an injury to Luke Shaw will bring about an enforced change. The much-maligned Ashley Young came on as a substitute for the England international at Old Trafford last weekend, and barring an incredible show of faith in teenager Brandon Williams, will likely get the nod at St Mary’s.

For all the drama surrounding Paul Pogba at the moment, the Frenchman has been one of United’s better players in the opening stages of the campaign. He was imperious against Chelsea, and despite his penalty miss at Molineux, came out of the game with some credit. Alongside him, Scott McTominay should keep out Brazil international Fred once more.

Further forward is where Solskjaer could really ring the changes. Jesse Lingard has become a laughing stock for his lack of contribution to the side, and his anonymous performances could finally see him dropped. That decision could see veteran play-maker Juan Mata enter the fray from the start, whilst Anthony Martial’s injury will force a further reshuffle.

Marcus Rashford will surely get the nod to play as the side’s number nine, whilst Daniel James may switch over from the right-flank to a more familiar role on the left-hand side. As such, it could result in just a second league start for 17-year-old prodigy Mason Greenwood. The teenager stole the show on the club’s pre-season tour this summer and has already made himself a firm fan favourite.

If Solskjaer does make these popular changes for the clash on Saturday, there will be no doubting the travelling faithful will feel confident of getting a positive result.

What’s the latest?

The Reds are believed to have sent scouts over to Spain to watch the 20-year-old in action, after he caught the eye having become a first-team regular last season.

He has maintained his place in the side at the start of the current campaign, too, and so far the winger has one goal in three La Liga games, adding to the five goals and two assists he got from 26 league matches in 2018/19.

Adrian was the only senior player to arrive at Anfield over the summer, leaving Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri as the club’s only experienced back-up options in the forward positions.

That could suggest that Jurgen Klopp is eager to add Chukwueze to the squad, but will first cast an eye over his performances to determine whether he will an effective addition.

Perhaps too early

Whilst the winger has done well to break into Villarreal’s side at an early age, his inconsistent performances – as highlighted by his goals and assists record – suggests he is not yet the finished article.

As a result, if he was to join Liverpool in the next transfer window he may struggle to make an impact, and certainly wouldn’t trouble players like Mo Salah or Sadio Mane for a first-team place.

If he found game time limited it could affect his development and it would therefore be a risk to bring him in now.

Instead, the Reds should bide their time, keep tabs on him as they have so far, and if he develops into a more productive and consistent player they could then make a move for him.

Mane, Salah and Roberto Firmino arrived at Anfield when they were aged 24, 25 and 23 respectively, and have begun to hit their best form at the age of 26/27, which suggests the young Nigerian should be granted more time to develop given he is only 20 years of age.

According to The Daily Mail, Andy Carroll will be unavailable for Newcastle United’s Premier League clash against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

The powerful forward is yet to play this season following an ankle operation.

It had been thought that the summer arrival would be fit enough to play a part against his former club after the international break.

However, according to The Daily Mail, Carroll’s return to action is ‘not imminent’.

The report insists that there has been ‘no setback’ when it comes to the 30-year-old, but his lack of first-team training has pushed his return date back.

It remains to be seen whether the Englishman can return to fitness and contribute for Steve Bruce’s side, who showed a lot of faith following his West Ham United release.

وأردف: “غياب علي معلول مؤثر جدًا على الأهلي في الفترة الأخيرة، حيث إن 80% من أهداف الأهلي كان علي معلول سبباً فيها”.

وعن تشكيل الأهلي من وجهة نظره، أوضح: “أفضل وجود أيمن أشرف في الجبهة اليسري عن محمود وحيد، لأن الأخير لم يدخل في فورمة المباريات بعد، بينما أشرف لديها جرأة في التقدم للأمام ورأينا أمام سيمبا قدم مباراة جيدة”.

وتابع: “التشكيل الأفضل للأهلي، محمد الشناوي في حراسة المرمي وخط الدفاع، ياسر إبراهيم وبدر بانون ومحمد هاني وأيمن أشرف، وفي خط الوسط المستويات متقاربة بين الثلاثي أليو ديانج وعمرو السولية وحمدي فتحي، أي منهم يلعب سيؤدي بشكل جيد، وفي الخط الأمامي والتر بواليا ومحمد شريف وطاهر محمد طاهر”.

One of the break-out stars of Newcastle’s campaign last season, Sean Longstaff has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the top-flight of English football.

The academy product’s loan spell at Blackpool in League One during the 2017/2018 campaign kick-started his path into the Newcastle first-team, and he was promptly rewarded with a four-year contract last year.

After making his first senior appearance for the club in a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool, Longstaff perhaps more than most would have desperately wanted to play in Newcastle’s clash against the Reds on Saturday.

However, speaking in his pre-match press conference, Steve Bruce confirmed the 21-year-old suffered a “freak” ankle injury and ruled the midfielder out of the game at Anfield.

After hearing the injury update on Longstaff, Newcastle fans flooded to Twitter to voice their concerns about the situation ahead of the match.

Many supporters of the Tyneside club felt that all hope of securing an improbable result at the home of the Champions League winners is lost, following the 21-year-old’s injury.

Some fans even wondered whether it would be possible to forfeit the game, whilst others claimed choosing alternative options like Jonjo Shelvey or Ki Sung-yeung would lead to an absolute mauling at Anfield.
