Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is on the managerial shortlist to replace Rafa Benitez at Newcastle United, according to The Telegraph.

What’s the story?

It’s not the first time that Gerrard has been linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, with Derby County reportedly interested in the Liverpool icon as a potential replacement for Frank Lampard.

Gerrard later brushed off those claims, but heavyweight interest from the English Premier League is now on the cards.

The Telegraph say that Gerrard is one of the names on the Magpies’ shortlist for the vacant manager’s job at St James’ Park, alongside other big names like Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta.

The paper reckon that Newcastle would prefer a younger coach to take charge of the team in the wake of Benitez’s controversial departure.

Would Gerrard be interested?

The Rangers boss for the moment appears very committed to the project at Ibrox, insisting amid the Derby interest that his focus is on the up and coming season.

If Newcastle decide to follow up on their interest though then some big, career altering decisions would have to be made by the former Anfield favourite.

Credible interest and an approach from the Magpies could mean that the Gers’ plans for the upcoming season could be thrown into chaos.

The club are currently busy in Portugal preparing for European qualifiers next month and any distraction is potentially damaging.

The Ibrox side haven’t had stability from season to season for a number of years now and the thought of Gerrard leaving is unthinkable when considering the future direction of the club.

Rejecting Derby County is one thing, but the lure of the Premier League could prove tempting for a man who defined his career with performances in the competition.

From Rangers’ perspective, they must be hoping that kind of serious interest in the manager is a year or two away at least.

According to reputable Telegraph journalist Matt Law, Fulham are keen on signing Pontus Jansson from Leeds United.

This isn’t the first United player that Scott Parker’s team have shown an interest in this summer as they have previously looked at Adam Forshaw.

What’s the story?

This could be a summer of significant departures for the Whites. Jack Clarke has already moved to Spurs for a fee in excess of £9m, and now Jansson is being targeted by the London club.

With the club rejecting a move worth around £10m for the Swede last summer, the Whites could be in for another hefty windfall if they choose to sell the 28-year-old.

Shouldn’t sell to a rival

This is the second time this summer Fulham have looked at a Leeds player, but unlike Forshaw, Jansson is a key man at Elland Road.

The Swede has been one of the first names on the teamsheet for Marcelo Bielsa since he arrived at the club, making 39 appearances in the league last term, and losing him to a direct Championship rival could come back to bite them.

Only three teams go up from this division each season, and if Leeds sell Jansson to Fulham, it will certainly aid the latter’s chances of taking one of those spots.

If Jansson is indeed set to leave the club, Leeds should be selling him to a team they’re not in direct competition with, or else it could cause real problems for their own promotion aspirations.

وأتم تصريحاته: “مازال أمامي الكثير من الوقت لمثل هذه الخطوة، لا يزال لدي الكثير لأتعلمه ولذلك اعتقد أن رين هو المكان المثالي لذلك”.

كشفت شبكة “سكاي سبورتس” أن جناح الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي أولمبيك مارسيليا، مارلي أكي، قد وصل صباح اليوم، الأربعاء، إلى مقر يوفنتوس من أجل الخضوع للكشف الطبي.

أكي يبلغ من العمر 20 عامًا فقط، ويعد من أبرز اللاعبين الموهوبين في الدوري الفرنسي، ومن المتوقع بحسب ما ذكرت الشبكة الشهيرة، أن يلتحق بفريق تحت 23 عامًا بنادي يوفنتوس.

Danny Mills has revealed to the Football Insider that Everton left-back Lucas Digne could join Tottenham if the north Londoners sell Danny Rose this summer.

Mills also took time to praise the France international for his first season in the Premier League, and feels that the former Barcelona defender is now worth £40m – over double the £18m fee that the Toffees spent on him.

What did he say?

Mills wrote: “There is talk of Lucas Digne going to Tottenham to replace Danny Rose if he leaves. There could be something in that, and it’s one to keep an eye on as a late window deal.

“He has been brilliant. He’s now worth £40m, more than double what they paid. He is technically very good, excellent going forward and knows how to defend. He’s going to get even better as he gets more used to the Premier League.”

Mills is right, his value has doubled

Mills touches upon the fact that Digne’s value has more than doubled since he arrived on Merseyside just a year ago, and it is testament to Everton that they managed to secure such a bargain in this day and age – the 25-year-old’s four goals and four assists last term have him amongst the Premier League’s best left-backs.

To get a left-back from Barcelona who is of international pedigree for just £18m in a time where teenagers are moving for fees of £113m (looking at you, Joao Felix) is pretty exquisite business from Everton and Marcel Brands – Mills is spot on to say that Digne’s value has soared since he became a Toffee.

The scary thing is thinking about just how much Digne could be worth next summer.

وكان بايرن ميونخ قد حقق بطولة كأس العالم للأندية في عام 2013 والتي أقيمت في المغرب على حساب الرجاء البيضاوي، تحت قيادة المدير الفني، بيب جوارديولا.

Wolves’ young star Morgan Gibbs-White finally opened his goalscoring account for the club with a fine strike during their 4-0 victory over Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the Premier League Asia Trophy.

The teenager is an academy graduate who made his debut aged just 16 in Wolves’ FA Cup win over Stoke City back in January 2017. Since then he has gone on to appear for the first-team 54 times, the majority of which came last season as he played in 31 matches, registering one assist.

A host of the Molineux fanbase took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the goal with the overriding consensus being that the 19-year-old has a great future ahead of him as one supporter believed he will play a big part in the team this coming campaign.

Another fan claimed that the youngster is going to be amazing this season which was reinforced by a further opinion that Gibbs-White would score eight goals from midfield.

The 19-year-old doubled Wolves’ lead in the 32nd minute firing low past Freddie Woodman after capitalising on the Magpies’ poor defending.
