After a worrying start to the season that saw them drop points to Leicester City, Newcastle United and Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur have turned things around.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have won four games on the spin, and with a favourable tie against Hungarian outfit Ferencvárosi TC to come tonight, there is a great chance that run extends to five.
However, with the fixtures starting to pile up and an international break right around the corner, the Australian has to make some changes to his starting lineup, which means dropping the inform Dejan Kulusevski.

Okay, so before the pitchforks come out, we are not suggesting that Kulusevski should miss out on tonight’s game due to poor form, as, if anything, the opposite is true.
After a mediocre campaign last year, the Swedish international has found a new lease of life in midfield this season and, in turn, has become arguably Spurs’ most important player in recent weeks, racking up one goal and two assists in eight appearances thus far.
However, his most impressive display to date for the club came on Sunday afternoon, when, along with the rest of his team, he played Manchester United off the park at Old Trafford while becoming the first away player in twenty years to create nine or more chances in a single game.
In short, the former Juventus ace is finally starting to play to his full ability and, in turn, should be rested for a game like tonight’s, as even though it won’t be easy, the North Londoners should have enough in the locker to beat the Hungarian giants without risking their best players, especially when there are so few chances to rest players these days.
Moreover, the bench is staked with exciting young talents who are more than capable of doing a job, including one whose chance to impress was ruined last time in the Europa League.
Why Lucas Bergvall should start tonight
Yes, while there are a number of youngsters who should, and probably will, start tonight, it’s the Swedish phenom who should come in to replace his fellow countryman.
The talented 18-year-old got his chance to start a European game this time last week, but a stupid red card in the seventh minute from Radu Dragusin saw him sacrificed early in the first half to allow Destiny Udogie to come on and shore up the defence.
However, while his misfortune last week is undoubtedly one argument for why he should be given the nod tonight, it’s not the only one, as his raw talent is as good a reason as any.
For example, despite being so young, the Stockholm-born future “captain”, as dubbed by respected analyst Ben Mattinson, has plenty of first-team experience, as just last season alone, he made 19 appearances for Swedish side Djurgården, in which he scored six goals and provided five assists.
This means that the “super creative” midfielder, as Mattinson described him, was averaging a goal involvement every 1.72 games in a season in which he was just 17 years old until early February.

Ultimately, Spurs have a lot of games on the horizon, and with the international break not offering much of a break at all, they need to find ways to rest their most important players like Kulusevski; while tonight won’t be an easy game, the level of opposition is undeniably lower than it would be in the Premier League.
Therefore, Postecoglou and Co should do the smart thing and give the former Juventus star a chance to rest by starting the incredibly exciting Bergvall in his place, as the youngster looks more than ready to take his chance.

Pakistan still have half their side left, including – crucially – captain Babar Azam on 54 as they try and stretch out a relatively vulnerable 124-run lead beyond the capacity of the hosts in what should be an engrossing fourth innings chase.On either side of a two-and-a-half-hour rain delay, West Indies bowlers’ were characteristically patient and as consistent as they’ve been all Test, but will need one final effort to ensure their batters have a target within their reach.ICC reprimands Jayden Seales
Jayden Seals has copped one demerit point for using inappropriate language against Hasan Ali during the Sabina Park Test.

Após o gol, o Flamengo não mudou a postura e continuou no campo de ataque em busca do segundo gol, o que aconteceu dez minutos depois. Matheus França enfiou para Marcos Paulo pelo lado esquerdo, mas Dudu chegou primeiro e começou a proteger a bola, que sairia em tiro de meta.

Simon Harmer took his LV= Insurance County Championship wicket tally for the season to 49 as Essex maintained their top spot in Division Two with victory by an innings and three runs over Gloucestershire.Off-spinner Harmer returned 4 for 78 as Essex claimed the five wickets needed on day three before lunch – with Gloucestershire bowled out for 197.Essex have won both their Divisional stage matches by an innings, having previously thrashed Glamorgan.Essex’s initial pursuit of the final five wickets didn’t take long as three wickets fell for no runs.Sam Cook dragged Tom Lace outside off stump and caught an edge to the bucket hands of Harmer at second slip with the 11th ball of the morning. It happens every year. More or less. Everton started poorly in the Premier League once more in 2024/25 but stretched their unbeaten run to three matches in a drab draw against Newcastle United before the October international break.
The series pause is now upon us, and though some Toffees fans might anticipate watching Lee Carsley’s England – and whoever else they support – in action, it’s fair to say that the majority simply wish for Everton to get back in action and continue this budding resurgence.

It’s clear that he’s been missed this year, although the fact that he has barely played does count for something: Everton have a real chance of rising to new heights upon his return, which should be imminent – a positive to take from this wretched international break.
Everton have had to make do with Michael Keane, who has long been tagged with negativity, but rightly so, he’s not good enough.

Keane has entered his eighth campaign on Merseyside, having joined from Burnley for a club-record-equalling fee of £30m in 2017 under the management of Ronald Koeman. The centre-half’s efforts in Lancashire had earned him acclaim, earning a Three Lions call-up to boot.
He’s now completed 224 appearances in all competitions for Everton, scoring 14 goals and adding ten assists, but has fallen down the pecking order over the past several seasons, playing 14 Premier League matches from the outset across the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
There’s a reason for this. He’d been noted to be “always struggling”, according to talkSPORT’s Perry Groves, and has continually been culpable for porous performances, lacking the resilience and crispness that is required in a Dyche system, which is ironic, since he starred under the craggy-faced manager at Burnley.
This season, the 31-year-old has obviously been called upon due to the injury issues that have plagued Branthwaite, and although he kept a clean sheet against Newcastle last time out, covering for a struggling Tarkowski in several instances, it’s worth noting that he lost both of his ground duels.
Dyche employs a defence-heavy system and it’s simply not going to work out if he doesn’t get his act together. Indeed, across his six appearances, Keane has actually only won 38% of his ground duels – harking back to Branthwaite’s 68% average last year, and the polarity is stark indeed.

He’s a fierce and capable competitor in the air but Keane has flattered to deceive on the ground, with FBref even recording that he ranks among the bottom 4% of centre-backs across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for tackles won per 90 (0.45), which affirms the contention that he is not fit for purpose in Dyche’s team any longer.
Of course, Branthwaite will supersede him instantly upon being handed the green light, but with Keane out of contract at the end of the campaign, it’s unlikely that he will be rewarded with fresh terms. All told, Everton haven’t got their money’s worth.

Keane’s once eye-catching market worth has plummeted off a proverbial cliff, with that £30m figure looking some way away at this point.
As per Football Transfers, the veteran is currently worth just £1m on today’s market, and though his imminent contract expiry will have something to do with this, he was worth merely £5m one year ago.
Contextualising this further, teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whose deal runs up at the same time, is still worth £9m, emphasising the gap that has seen the centre-back’s value drop by some £29m, or, to put it another way, 97%.
That’s without even addressing the defender’s £80k-per-week salary, something that sees him take home a pay packet worth over double what Branthwaite, for example, earns.
With The Friedkin Group on the cusp of purchasing Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in the club, some impactful changes are going to be required in 2025 – and getting rid of Keane must be one of the priorities.
