It's not been the busiest of summers for Arsenal so far this year, with just the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori so far in terms of new first-team players.

That said, it appears that the signing of Mikel Merino is a matter of days away from being completed, and in the last week or so, several top-class strikers linked with the club, such as Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

However, in the last couple of days, another name has consistently been touted for a move to the Emirates: Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke.

The Englishman might not have the same level of excitement around his name as the other number nines on the market at the moment, but he's Premier League-proven, a good age, and seemingly available.

He'd likely be a success leading the line for an increasingly dangerous Arsenal, although he could have a fight on his hands for the starting role with another attacker at the club who is worth considerably more.

The latest on Solanke to Arsenal

According to a recent report from TEAMtalk, Arsenal are now interested in Bournemouth's Solanke this summer, alongside several other clubs, including North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

There appears to be some discrepancy in how much the former Chelsea ace would cost, but based on the report, his contract has a release clause worth £65m.

This would represent a significant investment from the Gunners, but based on his form last season and the fact that they missed out on the title by just two points, it would probably be worth it.

For example, in his 42 appearances for the Cherries across 2023/24, the Basingstoke-born dynamo scored 21 goals and provided four assists, which converts to a goal involvement on average every 1.68 games and would have made him the second most productive player at Arsenal.

However, even after such an impressive campaign for the South Coast side, Solanke is worth considerably less than one of Arteta's key men.

The valuation of Kai Havertz in 2024

Yes, the key man in question is last summer's £65m man, Kai Havertz, who is valued at a whopping €98M by Football Transfers. This converts to about £84m, or at least £19m more than Solanke, and while it's significant, it might be justified.

The German international began life at the Emirates in a midfield role, and in all honesty, he was rather ineffective for a large part of last season until he was moved up top, that is.

Following his change from left eight to starting nine, the former Chelsea ace became one of the most important players in Arteta's squad, alongside Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. He was one of the first names on the teamsheet during a period when the North Londoners were tearing teams apart.

He ended the campaign with 14 goals and seven assists in 51 appearances, but his numbers look a lot more impressive when you consider the games in which he started as the team's out-and-out striker.

In those 18 matches, the "magnificent" ace, as talent scout Jacek Kulig described him, scored eight goals and provided seven assists, which equates to a goal involvement on average every 1.20 games, and is actually more impressive than Solanke's average.

Now, the question over the German's head is whether he could keep that rate of return up for an entire season, but it would make for an interesting dynamic to see him compete with the Bournemouth man in 2024/25.

Ultimately, signing Solanke would likely be a smart idea for Arsenal, as more firepower is always a good thing, but he'd have to really impress to permanently dislodge Havertz from the starting lineup and surpass his mammoth value.

One Manchester United midfielder has agreed personal terms to leave the club this summer, it has been reported, in a move that could have consequences for the rest of the Premier League giants’ transfer window.

Despite the news breaking at the beginning of the summer that almost all of Erik ten Hag’s squad are available for the right price, there have been very few exits at Old Trafford so far this summer.

French pair Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane both left on free transfers after their deals in Manchester came to an end, while Omari Forson also departed as a free agent.

Elsewhere, Mason Greenwood was sold to French side Marseille in a deal worth £22m, whlle talented defender Willy Kambwala has joined Villarreal in an £8m move.

Midfield outcast Donny van de Beek has also finally departed permanently following a horror spell at Old Trafford since his £35m move from Ajax, joining Girona for a nominal fee.

It has allowed Manchester United to make two new signings, with Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro coming in to replace Varane and Martial for a combined £86m, but they are still waiting on exits.

It is believed that a deal for Noussair Mazraoui is all but done, but requires right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s departure before it can be confirmed, while any new incoming centre-back is likely to hinge on the future of Victor Lindelof.

The same can be said in midfield, with deals likely waiting to be completed after they can shift one of Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay or Casemiro, all of whom have been linked with moves away. Now, one man has agreed terms to leave.

That comes in the shape of academy graduate McTominay, who has reportedly agreed personal terms over a move to Galatasaray this summer. The Scottish midfielder is believed to be a target for Premier League side Fulham as well as the Turkish giants, with both sides tussling for his signature.

Indeed, he has given the green light to a deal worth a reported €5.5m a year (£4.5m per year, or £86,500 per week), an increase on the £60,000 a week deal he finds himself on at Old Trafford.

That may well have been the easy part though, with reports earlier in the week suggesting that Galatasaray had seen an opening bid of €15m (£12.7m) knocked back for the Scottish international, with Dan Ashworth and Co keen to hold out for closer to £25m to let him leave this summer.

Should that price be met and McTominay depart, it could allow Manchester United to move for one of their midfield targets, with PSG’s Manuel Ugarte among those that they have been linked with in recent weeks.

وأوضح: “هناك أنانية في الجانب الهجومي، وسام أبو علي من أفضل اللاعبين لكن الكرة كانت تعانده، ومع ذلك هو العنصر الوحيد الذي يُمكن الوثوق به”.

وأكمل: “الأهلي لا يستغل وسام بشكل جيد، وسام يحتاج إلى كرات عرضية وهذا لا يتحقق، إمام عاشور أكثر لاعب يمكن أن يساعده، لكن لم يقم بذلك”.

واستكمل: “تغييرات كولر غريبة، أن تلعب على أرضك ومع ذلك تدفع بـ أكرم توفيق، كيف ذلك، الهدف الذي دخل مرمى الأهلي بدايته من عند الضغط السيء لأكرم، ليس من الممكن أن يكون لاعب يمتلك خبرة ويتم مراوغته هكذا، أنا لم أكن مع الدفع به، هو ابتعد بالفعل بعد قرار رحيله ومناوشاته مع الجماهير، كان في رأيي ألا يتم الدفع به في مباراة اليوم، هناك أشياء خاطئة تحدث”.

وأتم: “الأخطاء الدفاعية، بالتأكيد لن أعلم خالد عبد الفتاح وياسر إبراهيم كيف يقفان، ردود أفعالهما وحركات جسديهما سيئة جدًا، ليس من المعقول وهما بهذه الخبرة أن أقول لهما كيف يقفان في الملعب؟”.

Ben Cox has agreed terms to keep him at Worcestershire until the end of the 2023 County season.Cox initially rejected an offer to stay with the club beyond the 2021 season, but Worcestershire announced on Tuesday that he had agreed a two-year contract extension.Cox, who made his debut for Worcestershire as a 17-year-old schoolboy in 2009, has also been awarded a Benefit Year in 2021, recognising his “lengthy and outstanding service”, the club said.”This club means the world to me, being a Worcestershire boy, and it means a hell of a lot to commit for another three years to the club,” Cox told the Worcestershire website. “If you had asked me when I made my debut that you would have had a 15-year career, and the club had offered you a Benefit Year, I would have snapped your hand off.”I’m over the moon to get things sorted for another three years, and I will still have more to give at the end of this contract, which excites me in itself. He made just 2 off 5 balls in an anti-climactic BBL debut. Sixers did recover, with a stunning assault in the backend, to finish with 113 for 5.But it proved not enough in good batting conditions – despite the earlier inclement weather – as Connolly starred with 59 off 31 balls. The knock came on the back of his strong recent efforts for Australia and Australia A.Just two days before the IPL auction – where he is fancied to earn a maiden deal – Connolly did his chances no harm. Batting at No. 3, Connolly whacked five sixes in a reminder of his x-factor ability, which has seen him likened to Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head.He completely dominated a 48-run fourth-wicket partnership with skipper Ashton Turner, before holing out with nine runs needed off nine balls.
