PSG spent several years chasing European glory by signing some of the biggest names in the sport, including Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. They have achieved success having moved on from that trio, however, with manager Luis Enrique credited for building a well-rounded team. Al-Khelaifi said to : "This year was very special. If we hadn't won before, it might not have been like this. With everything we've done for 14 years. It was very important for Paris, for France, we don't just talk about PSG but about France, we have the French flag on our jersey. We're proud of that. I slept with the Cup yesterday. I told myself that maybe it was a dream and when I woke up I said to myself no, it's true."

Spurs could have a "bigger talent than Mikey Moore" in Hotspur Way gem

There has not been much to celebrate for Tottenham Hotspur fans this season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have seriously struggled in the Premier League, were demolished by Liverpool in the League Cup and crashed out of the FA Cup against Aston Villa.

The one competition the fans have been able to really enjoy has been the Europa League, and it’s no surprise that it’s where the club’s brilliant youngsters have made the most impact.

The most exciting academy star is undoubtedly Mikey Moore, but that might not be the case next season, as Hotspur Way might have another superstar in the making for Postecoglou.

Mikey Moore's incredible talent

While he might have been something of an unknown quantity to the majority of fans at the start of the season, Moore certainly isn’t anymore.

The 17-year-old phenom hasn’t played loads of football this term, with Postecoglou opting to ease him in slowly and illness keeping him out of the team for a while, but when he has stepped onto the pitch, he’s looked like he belongs there.

For example, despite not scoring or providing an assist in the first Europa League game against AZ Alkmaar back in October, the Southwark-born gem completely stole the show.

In fact, he was so brilliant to watch that James Maddison compared him to Neymar Jr in a post-match interview, which, as comparisons go, is not a bad one.

So far, the teenage dynamo has scored one goal and provided two assists in 16 first-team appearances, totalling just 632 minutes, meaning he’s chipped in with a goal involvement on average every 210.66 minutes.

Overall, Moore looks like he will become an incredibly important player for Spurs and Postecoglou over the coming years.

Still, he might have some extra competition out of Hotspur Way for the title of best youngster next season.

The prospect who could be better than Moore

The next young superstar in the making to come out of Hotspur Way looks like it could be the incredibly exciting Luca Williams-Barnett.

The 16-year-old phenomenon hasn’t made a first-team appearance yet – although he has featured on the bench – but don’t let that fool you; he appears to have what it takes to be a future world-beater.

In fact, he’s showing it week in and week out at the youth level, and so far this season, he has racked up a truly unbelievable tally of 19 goals and ten assists in 23 games, totalling 1797 minutes for the U18 team.

On top of that, the unreal talent can play in attacking midfield, on either wing, in left-midfield and he’s even played up top as well, leading academy expert and pundit John Wenham to describe him as a “cheat code.”

With such an astounding rate of return in the academy, it’s easy to understand why one prominent Spurs content creator asked, “is he a bigger talent than Mikey Moore?”

Ultimately, while that might seem a little premature to some, Williams Barnett has taken the Lilywhites junior sides by storm this season, and we would not be in the slightest bit surprised to see him lining up alongside Moore in the first team next year.

Muller's proposed move to MLS has reportedly stalled, with talks between the Bayern Munich veteran and Californian club LAFC still not finalised, according to . Muller intends to continue his career in the United States, but he has apparently turned down advances from Chicago Fire and another unidentified MLS club because MLS rules forbid players from jointly negotiating with multiple teams.

The 35-year-old is contracted with Bayern Munich until July 2025 and will leave the club after the Club World Cup. The forward appeared in 30 Bundesliga games during the 2024-25 season, scoring once and assisting four times. The unique single-entity structure of MLS necessitates league approval and requires clubs to coordinate negotiations, which has contributed to the delay, though his next destination is likely to be disclosed next month.

Big Sancho upgrade: Chelsea make "world-class prospect" their dream target

Some of the biggest news surrounding Chelsea over the international break has been the future of Jadon Sancho at the club, who joined on an initial loan deal from Manchester United in the summer, with an obligation to buy of around ÂŁ20-25m.

However, it has now been reported that the west Londoners have the option to pay ÂŁ5m as compensation, which would allow the Blues to break their obligation clause and send the winger back to Old Trafford.

Sancho has made 28 appearances for Chelsea since arriving, scoring twice, providing six assists and totalling 1,725 minutes played.

But if he doesn’t improve his form at the back end of this season, could Chelsea choose to send him back and go in another direction for that left-wing spot?

Chelsea's search for a winger

According to Fabrizio Romano (via Simon Phillips), Chelsea’s “dream” transfer target is AtlĂ©tico Bilbao winger, Nico Williams, someone they have shown extensive interest in during prior windows.

Transfer Focus

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

However, Romano also mentions Williams as a “dream” target for other clubs such as Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

The main factor in any deal for Williams would be convincing him to join, as per Romano. His current salary – which is reportedly as high as ÂŁ167k-per-week – could become a factor for Chelsea when discussing any deal for the winger.

Athletic Bilbao'sNicoWilliamscelebrates scoring their third goal

Williams has made 37 appearances so far this season, scoring nine goals, providing seven assists and totalling 2,599 minutes played. So how could Williams be a huge improvement on Sancho, and why does he fit Enzo Maresca’s system so well?

How Nico Williams compares to Jadon Sancho

In Maresca’s system, the wingers are often tasked with 1v1 isolations against the opposition fullback, looking to use these moments to be direct, attack and create chances.

Noni Madueke has thrived in this area for Maresca, often being direct and driving his way into the penalty area, creating dangerous opportunities for himself and others.

When comparing Williams and Sancho’s underlying metrics this season, you can see Williams is more direct with his actions, providing more goal threat, having a higher shot volume, creating more for his team and carrying the ball more frequently.

Sancho, on the other hand, helps to progress play more with his passing and has better assist numbers per 90, but perhaps doesn’t possess that same explosiveness that Williams does.

The 22-year-old Spaniard has been labelled a “world-class prospect” by writer Zach Lowy in the past, praising his ability to cut inside, test the keeper but also constantly beat his fullback, being a real “menace” for the opposition to deal with.

Sending Sancho back to Manchester United and picking up a more direct winger, who can offer similar qualities to those Madueke has offered on the right wing for Chelsea this season, could suit Maresca’s system slightly better, having wide players on either side who can force the issue and drive the team forwards.

Williams could then represent the ‘dream’ upgrade that the Blues are looking for on the flanks.

Liverpool now racing Real Madrid for ÂŁ42m "beast" who Jurgen Klopp loves

Liverpool are now racing Real Madrid to the signing of a promising defender, and one who former manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of, according to reports.

Reds pursuing centre-back with Van Dijk future uncertain

Virgil van Dijk’s future at Anfield remains very much up in the air, with the Dutchman yet to commit to a new contract to extend his stay at Anfield beyond the end of the season.

Losing his captain will be the last thing Arne Slot wants in the summer transfer window, particularly with Trent Alexander-Arnold also seemingly on his way out, with a move to Real Madrid looking increasingly likely.

As such, the Reds will have to remain proactive in the transfer market, in order to make sure they are not left reeling by a potential Van Dijk departure, and one replacement they have in mind is Ajax star Jorrel Hato.

Liverpool could sell their answer to Bellingham after receiving ÂŁ50m bid

ByAngus Sinclair Mar 31, 2025

AFC Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen is another name on the shortlist, following the Spaniard’s breakout season with the Cherries in the Premier League, although there will be competition for his signature from Real Madrid.

Huijsen is not the only centre-back Liverpool may have to battle Real Madrid for, however, with a report from Sky Sports revealing the two heavyweights are both interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.

A report from Spain has since gone into more detail about the pursuit of Hincapie, stating the defender has a market value of around €50m (£42m).

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past, at which point it was revealed Klopp is a big fan, but it could be very difficult to fend off Madrid in the race for his signature.

"Beast" Hincapie could be an excellent signing

The Ecuadorian has predominantly featured at centre-back throughout his career so far, but his versatility would make him a useful signing for Liverpool, given that he can also play at left-back, which is another area Slot is looking to strengthen.

The aforementioned report makes it clear Real Madrid are also considering a move for Ibrahima Konate this summer, however, and should Van Dijk decide to move on, signing a new centre-back is likely to be a priority, with the Bayer Leverkusen star fitting the bill.

The Esmeraldas-born defender places in the 85th percentile for tackles per 90 over the past year, when compared to his positional peers, and he is ranked among the best tacklers in the Bundesliga, given his rate of success this season.

Hincapie has proven he could be an excellent signing for Liverpool this summer, but their first priority should be to seal a new deal for Van Dijk, given that it would be extremely difficult to replace the 33-year-old.

Harry Brook unfazed by Australian attack

Explosive batter riding a new wave into his Ashes debut

Vithushan Ehantharajah14-Jun-2023Of the players arriving into this Ashes riding the crest of England’s nu-wave, Harry Brook is probably at its very peak. Which explains the confidence he has in stating the faster Australia bowl, the quicker they will get sent to the boundary.”Obviously they might have a little bit of extra pace, but if they bowl quicker it tends to go to the boundary quicker,” he said, when asked about the arsenal of the visiting quicks. They will be the best and sharpest he has faced so far. And he doesn’t seem all that bothered by them at all.All to a man speak of belief and a love of being where they are and doing what they are doing. But few wear it as proudly as Brook. The 24-year-old has tangible proof of just how highly he is regarded in the England set-up.That the return of 2022’s Bazball totem Jonny Bairstow meant losing Ben Foakes, a reliable performer and certainly a superior wicketkeeper, was a testament to how the Yorkshire wunderkind has made the position his own. Seven caps in, 818 runs, four centuries, averaging 81.80 and striking at 99.03 – in a free-wheeling group, he is non-negotiable.Related

“There was a lot of talk of me opening the batting – thank god I’m not doing that,” laughed Brook, perhaps remembering a 10-game stint for Yorkshire across 2018 and 2019 in which he averaged 14.94 at the top of the order.”I was never asked. It gives me a lot of confidence knowing that I’m going to be batting five and they back me batting there.”To have established himself so early and in such fashion – after picking up a T20 World Cup winners’ medal, he then toured Pakistan and New Zealand, scoring more runs in nine innings than any in Test history – speaks to a high base level of self-regard dovetailing with undoubted ability. The drive to get to this level has been evident throughout, and the enthusiasm to replicate the exploits of the England stars of 2005 – a fond series for him, albeit on DVD years after given he was six at the time – is clear. Some of his mates will be on hand in the Hollies, and will no doubt toast Brook’s Ashes debut repeatedly throughout the day. This Test, however, is the first with a sense of responsibility around Brook, even if the McCullum-Stokes ethos is geared towards quashing anything that promotes caution. That he feels part of it all is in some way an acceptance of those expectations.”It’s a dream come true to be involved in my first Ashes,” said Brook. “Growing up I was watching some of these players who are still playing, against the best in the world and the best Australians. I’m looking forward to it.”I feel like I’m more part of the team now. Obviously as a deputy you don’t quite feel like you’re meant to be there if you know what I mean. So to have been contributing and gain a few match-winning performances this winter has meant the world and I feel a big part of the team now.”Harry Brook launches a drive down the ground•Getty ImagesThat Bairstow is behind him offers him license to go even harder, if that is possible. And with Moeen Ali behind the keeper-batter, Brook is excited by the prospect of seeing how a blockbuster lower-middle-order can perform out in the middle.”It’s a long batting line-up, that’s for sure. There’s a lot of T20 experience in there and lads batting with the tail tend to go harder and hit as many runs in a short period of time. To have them boys batting at seven and eight is ridiculous really.”That Brook has never faced Australia – the match at last year’s World Cup was rained off – puts a little bit extra on this. There is no doubt he will be the subject of a lot of their attention. The numbers – what he’s posted and his age – have put a target on his back, and he will not be lost for people to talk to when batting as the visitors look to disrupt his flow. There is no doubt the man will be willing to go toe-to-toe and give a bit back. He is certainly aiming to carry on his domineering ways out in the middle, even against the best attack in the world right now. And especially against one of the modern era’s premiere off-spinners in Nathan Lyon.”If I get a good ball I’m going to try and survive against that good ball, and if he bowls me a bad ball I’ll try and hit it for four or six. So it’s not necessarily I’m going to come after him and try and hit every ball for six. I’m going to respect the bowler and whatever he bowls and if it is a bad ball I’ll try and hit it for six.”

Barcelona’s interest in Williams dates back more than a year. The club initially made him a top target last summer, but the acquisition of Dani Olmo had significantly strained the club’s limited transfer resources, shelving plans for another marquee signing. Moreover, club president Joan Laporta has reportedly been impressed with Williams' determination to wear the Barcelona shirt. Several recent meetings between the winger’s camp and club executives have been held to iron out the framework of the proposed transfer.
