Everton fans on Kean transfer update

Loads of Everton fans have been left to rage as a transfer update emerged on Moise Kean.

As per L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), the Italy international has been house-hunting in Paris, hoping that he can stay at PSG on a permanent deal from Goodison Park.

Talks are reportedly ongoing between the two parties, but Kean’s valuation is quoted to be €25-€30m (£21.6-26m), which seems very low considering the season that he has had, in which he scored no fewer than 17 goals in 41 games in total over all competitions in the 2020/21 term (Transfermarkt).

Considering that he is still just 21 years of age, and that he is currently valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, the Merseyside club would surely be wanting to get a lot more money if they decided to sell him, or hold on until more is offered perhaps from a rival bidder.

These Toffees supporters raged as the transfer update was shared on Twitter:

“They having a laugh?! thinking we should sell for that much! That’s actually a loss…. we paid more to get him, his contract has 4 years left And he’s their second top scorer, still young, a high prospect and inform. They’re PSG, not like they don’t have the funds”

Somerset 'still can't find that winning formula' says Shine as the Sabres go down to the Royals

Somerset are still searching for that elusive first one day victory after they were beaten by 127 runs by Worcester Royals in the NUL at New Road this afternoon

Richard Walsh19-May-2002Somerset are still searching for that elusive first one day victory after they were beaten by 127 runs by Worcester Royals in the NUL at New Road this afternoon. After last weekend when they narrowly lost to Yorkshire Phoenix by one run they seemed to have regained their one day form so their performance against Worcester Royals will come as another blow.Chasing a Royals total of 254 the Sabres lost Peter Bowler,Matt Wood early on and with the score on 15 Jamie Cox was out LBW.From that position they never recovered and despite a brave innings of 37 from Keith Parsons and a lusty 21 from Matt Bulbeck there was no way back and they were all out for 127 in the 33rd over.Earlier in the day Worcester Royals scored 254 for 7, thanks to a sound innings of 65 by opener Anurag Singh and an aggressive knock of 66 by Ben Smith.Royals innings lost opener Vikram Solanki to the first ball of the day when he was caught behind the wicket by Rob Turner off Matt Bulbeck.New batsman Graeme Hick and Singh moved the score onto 70 before Hick, was caught by Pete Trego, fielding as substitute, off Graham Rose for 18.The Royals batsmen scored steadily until slow bowlers Keith Dutch and Ian Blackwell reined the Royals back in.When fast bowler Simon Francis was introduced into the attack for the 31st over in place of Dutch he was unlucky to have 13 scored off his first over.In his next over the former Hampshire man made amends by bowling Duncan Leatherdale for 39 and two runs later accounting for Gareth Batty.Smith and keeper Steve Rhodes then shared a 6th wicket partnership of 78 in 12 overs before Francis struck again twice in the final over dismissing Smith for 66 and Rhodes for 42, to end with his best ever NUL return of 4 for 60.After the match Somerset coach Kevin Shine told me: "We are still can’t find that magic winning formula. We have been pretty poor, and the boys are feeling it, but it will only take one good result to get us back on track."

Celtic: Hoops set to miss out on Fergal Harkin appointment

Manchester City Football Partnerships and Pathways manager Fergal Harkin no longer looks to be in the frame for the sporting director role at Celtic, according to the Daily Record.

The Lowdown

An openly kept secret to many, the Celts have made plans for a major restructuring mission at the club after a disastrous 2020/21 campaign. Needing to rebuild the brains behind the operation alongside the playing staff, Harkin was seen as many as the preferential candidate for the role. This is owing to his contacts within the game and high-level experience in Manchester.

Recruitment has especially been a major stumbling block for Celtic in the past twelve months, which needs urgent replenishment. Conscious towards a whole market of talented young players in the Premier League 2 and beyond, the Irishman was reportedly earmarked to play a major role in the Hoops summer renovation [The Scottish Sun].

The Latest

Concerningly, this prospective move has now fallen by the wayside [The Scottish Sun]. Not only that, the Irish Independent state that the former Finn Harps player was never actually offered the position, which is quite the twist seeing as previous reports [Football Insider] went so far as to claim a deal for the ‘massive’ Hoops fan was ’90 per cent’ done.

Celtic are now believed to be tracking other options, with Belgium assistant Shaun Maloney believed to be the firm favourite for the job [Daily Record].

Verdict: Harkin collapse is a disappointing blow for Celtic

News of the proposed deal collapsing is a bitter blow for the Celtic support. Still without a new manager since Neil Lennon’s February resignation, the Hoops face a rather uncertain beginning to the 2021/22 campaign [Irish Times].

Labelled as a “fantastic” potential appointment by pundit Noel Whelan, you can’t help but feel the Hoops could’ve done with Harkin’s big club influence at Celtic Park [Football Insider].

Champions League qualifying is set to commence in a matter of weeks for the Celts [The Scotsman]. Time is indeed of the essence at Parkhead, and the Glasgow giants will need to provide the Celtic Park faithful with some clarity sooner rather than later.

Harroui can be Rangers’ Kamara repalcement

Rangers have been linked with Sparta Rotterdam ace Abdou Harroui recently and the Dutch under-21 international could be the man to replace Glen Kamara at Ibrox.

What’s the word?

According to Football Insider, Rangers are showing interest in the 23-year-old after sending some of their scouts to watch him play for the Netherlands at the European Under-21 Championship.

The report suggests that Gerrard is in the market for midfield reinforcements ahead of next season and could be tempted by the Sparta Rotterdam midfielder, who was a mainstay in the Eredivisie last term.

The replacement for Glen Kamara?

Kamara played a significant part in Rangers’ title win last season and has unsurprisingly caught attention from the Premier League as a result, with his former employers Arsenal one of the clubs said to be interested in signing him ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

If the Finland international were to depart Ibrox this summer, it would leave Gerrard short of midfield options, especially when you consider that veterans Steven Davis and Scott Arfield are still expected to play a key role, so they arguably need some more options for the future.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-rangers-transfer-rumours-and-news” title=”Read the latest Rangers transfer rumours and news!”]

The £3.15m-rated Harroui could prove to be an excellent long-term investment by the Gers as he was impressive in the Dutch top flight last season, contributing six goals and three assists in 32 league appearances.

He was also superb in the 2019/20 campaign, contributing four goals and eight assists in just 26 Eredivisie appearances, which helped him average an impressive 7.33 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

Harroui is comfortable playing in central midfield, defensive midfield and on the right wing, so he could be a hugely versatile option for Gerrard at Ibrox next season, which suggests that he is exactly the sort of player the manager would love to have in his squad.

[freshpress-quiz id=“593776″]

Rangers arguably lack goalscoring midfielders in their squad, so Harroui could also add more of a threat in that sense. Ross Wilson should definitely consider a move for the Sparta Rotterdam youngster, even if it means that Kamara ends up departing.

In other news… Gerrard may already have his Davis heir at Rangers in never-before-seen “mountain”

Battling Somerset pursue massive Surrey total

Mark Ramprakash duly completed his double century as Surrey racked up a massive total against Somerset at Taunton

Stephen Lamb04-Jul-2002Mark Ramprakash duly completed his double century as Surrey racked up a massive total against Somerset at Taunton. Ramprakash was eventually dismissed for 218, but Rikki Clarke then completed a career-best, unbeaten 153 that enabled the Frizzell County Championship leaders to declare at 608 for six. Somerset have fought back well in reply, with Matthew Wood (106) and Piran Holloway (77) putting on 202 for the first wicket. At stumps the hosts were 304 for three, exactly half way to the Surrey total.Third-placed Hampshire are struggling against Sussex at The Rose Bowl, after they took the early initiative by bowling the visitors out for a meagre 246. Shaun Udal (five for 56) and Alan Mullally (three for 44) starred, although they were held up by an unbeaten 80 from Robin Martin-Jenkins. He then struck with the ball, taking three wickets as the hosts tumbled to 88 for six in reply.Kent’s Championship captain David Fulton made 101 as his team was bowled out for 306 by Warwickshire at Maidstone. Fulton shared an opening partnership of 140 with Robert Key (62), while Graham Wagg and Jamie Spires took three wickets apiece. Warwickshire had lost both openers by the close, replying with 29 for two.At Grace Road, Peter Martin (three for 43) and James Anderson (three for 33) were Lancashire’s bowling heroes as Leicestershire were shot out for 219. Darren Maddy (59) played the home side’s only innings of substance. Mark Chilton then made 57 as Lancashire ended the day on 126 for three. An innings of 61 from former Leicestershire batsman Aftab Habib helped the Division Two leaders Essex to 283 at Swansea. Robert Croft (five for 71) continued his recent run of good form for Glamorgan, while an unbeaten 57 from Mike Powell provided the backbone of the hosts’ reply. Glamorgan were 197 for five at stumps, trailing by 86.Centuries from Vikram Solanki and Ben Smith allowed Worcestershire skipper Graeme Hick (88) to declare at 502 for four against Middlesex at New Road. Solanki made an unbeaten 153 and Smith 124 as the visiting bowlers toiled for little reward. In reply Middlesex closed on 15 without loss.Third-placed Derbyshire have strengthened their grip on their match against Gloucestershire at Derby. Despite 67 from Alex Gidman, the visitors were dismissed for just 179, Dominic Cork finishing with five for 67. Andrew Gait (88) ensured that Derbyshire had taken a first innings lead by stumps, when they had reached 226 for four, with Chris Bassano unbeaten on 63.At Northampton, Gary Pratt (72) was Durham’s top scorer as they were dismissed for 352 by Northants. There were also useful contributions from Ian Hunter (65) and Marc Symington (42). Darren Cousins and Graeme Swann each took four wickets for the hosts.

Ryan Sessegnon could save Spurs millions

Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as their next manager.

The 48-year-old will be the man tasked with replacing Jose Mourinho in the dugout whilst the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ takes his fellow countryman’s place at AS Roma.

He’ll have a mighty task on his hands, not at least because he was thought to be the club’s sixth choice for the role.

Fonseca will arrive in North London knowing that his star striker Harry Kane wants to leave, the futures of several players are up in the air, the defence needs a major overhaul and much of the deadwood needs to be moved on.

However, he does meet the key criteria set out by chairman Daniel Levy, who very early on in the process – some six to seven weeks ago – was said to desire an ‘attack-minded’ head coach who could commit to the development of the club’s young stars.

In the former Shaktar Donetsk boss, they get just that.

Fonseca’s Roma side may have struggled to pick up results on the pitch but their style of play has drawn plenty of plaudits, ranging from The Athletic’s James Horncastle describing them as the league’s “entertainers” alongside Atalanta and Sassuolo, to Portuguese journalist Alex Goncalves once dubbing it as “stylish football.”

Ryan Sessegnon would have been one player Levy had in mind for next season and, following a successful loan spell at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim, he’s surely in line to play more regularly for Spurs’ senior side.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-manager-gossip-transfer-rumours-team-and-injury-updates-and-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, manager gossip, transfer rumours, team and injury updates and more!”]

Indeed, if Fonseca unleashes the versatile wide man next season, he could save himself, Levy, and the club several millions in the transfer market.

What makes the 21-year-old gem so appealing is his ability to play anywhere down that left flank, and given the Portuguese has often gone to a three-at-the-back wing-back system, the youngster could provide backup to Sergio Reguilon.

The futures of Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Gareth Bale are all up in the air, meaning that Spurs could have a shortage of out-and-out wingers going into next season. Again, Sessegnon solves this problem.

Now valued at just over £16m by Transfermarkt, the England under-21 international must step up if given an opportunity. It’s time for him to deliver on the huge potential with which he has always been touted throughout his short career to date.

“He is a big, big talent. The sky is the limit for him. He may become one of the world’s best in his position,” claimed Sessegnon’s former Fulham teammate Stefan Johansen. “He is an incredibly down to earth person who works hard every day. His future seems very bright.”

Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen has described him as a “highly talented and fast wide player, with a strong left foot.”

If he gets the Spurs job, Fonseca must look to develop the young dynamo next season. In the process he could save the club millions – or at the very least invest those funds in another area, such as the defence.

AND in other news, Paratici could land Spurs a perfect Kane replacement in £26m-rated beast who’s “so crazy”…

Spurs: Romano drops Paulo Fonseca update

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has delivered a fresh update on Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial search…

What’s the word?

On Wednesday, the BBC reported that Spurs had opened talks with former AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca, who is available after being replaced by Jose Mourinho in May.

It was also claimed that a deal was yet to be struck and that, after the recent setback over Antonio Conte, there is wariness from the north London hierarchy.

Romano has now suggested that these negotiations are still ongoing, despite rumours speculating a three-year contract for the Portuguese coach. In response to a question on Twitter, he replied: “Fonseca still in talks… let’s see.”

Word of warning

Understandably, Spurs are to err on the side of caution over any talks, and the word that this looks to be rumbling on may be enough to worry any supporter.

The Lilywhites have been left frustrated in their attempts to find a successor to Mourinho and it is widely thought that Fonseca is actually their sixth-choice candidate, as per the Daily Mail.

Daniel Levy and co have failed with moves for Bayern Munich bound Julian Nagelsmann, Leicester City’s FA Cup-winning boss Brendan Rodgers, Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, and of course Conte.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-manager-gossip-transfer-rumours-team-and-injury-updates-and-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, manager gossip, transfer rumours, team and injury updates and more!”]

At one stage, the Italian looked set to sign on the dotted line, before talks broke down at the 11th hour over concerns that the club could not match his ambition – or in other words, he would not be well-backed in the transfer market.

The longer talks drag out with Fonseca, the more doubt will start to creep in, just as it did with Pochettino and then Conte.

The prospects of this saga continuing into a second month aren’t the only reason Spurs fans should be worried – it’s the fact that he was the sixth option on the shortlist. He’s also just been replaced by the man Spurs sacked to create this vacancy.

After numerous fans recently protested against the chairman and the club’s owners, the ENIC group, this appointment is far from the inspiring sort they needed to win back their supporters.

Fonseca failed to surpass fifth in Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico and was recently embarrassed by Europa League runners up Manchester United, not to mention his daft mishap in using six subs, rather than five, during a cup defeat to Spezia.

All in all, this latest development from Romano should be enough to keep plenty in north London worried about the future.

AND in other news, Paratici could secure a “perfect” Kane replacement with “crazy” £26m goal machine…

West Ham fans flock to Rice claim

Flocking to Twitter, many West Ham United fans have responded to club insider ExWHUemployee’s update on star midfielder Declan Rice.

Rice was instrumental in West Ham’s push for European football over 2020/2021 and played a key role in defensive midfield – making the most interceptions out of any Irons player with over 15 starts in the Premier League (WhoScored).

As a result of his brilliant form over this past season, many clubs are interested in signing Rice this summer – with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all interested in a move for the 22-year-old.

However, ExWHUemployee’s update on the subject (via West Ham News & Views) has many Hammers fans talking amid a development.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-latest/” title=”West Ham latest!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The insider claims that while this trio of clubs are admirers, none of them are willing to match his £100 million price tag needed to prise him away from east London.

The situation, as it stands, is unlikely to change with the Englishman currently looking set to remain at the London Stadium.

Flocking to this update, as shared by West Ham News & Views, many Irons dropped their verdicts – find all of their best ones down below.
